Menta
While she’d been out leading her squad and fighting, the crew from the Agri–Science Institute had been busy. They’d given the building a massive overhaul.
It used to be just a plain old office building for some ag–tech company.
Now, it looked like a straight–up fortress.
Massive walls. A deep moat. A defense perimeter that looked thick as hell.
For a second, Josie actually thought she’d taken a wrong turn.
“Ms. Quinn!” someone shouted, spotting her first. “Over here! Come this way–we’re still planting mines in that zone!”
“Damn, what the hell are you guys up to?” Josie walked over, hands tucked in her pockets. “You trying to turn this place into a citadel or something?”
You bet!” the guy replied. “The Terrestrial users from the Institute were getting restless. Once the planting was done, they started obsessing over ‘urban development.“”
‘I don’t even know how they came up with the blueprints, but they just made it happen!”
‘Looks pretty damn secure now, doesn’t it?”
They said as long as the foundation is solid, those mutated beasts won’t find it so easy to break in.”
No matter how tough those things get, they’re still carbon–based. They’re still scared of bullets and bombs!”
Josie nodded. “True. I’ll dig through my space later, find some heavy weaponry, and line the top of every wall.”
‘Sweet!”
Josie kept walking and spotted Winnie, the ‘Personal Chef,‘ picking some of her home–grown veggies.
Big Boss is back!” Winnie quickly wiped her hands and handed Josie a fresh tomato. “Here, try this. It’s a new strain from the Institute–it’s amazing. It’s a fast–growth variety; you get a whole harvest in just a month!”
josie took a bite. Damn, it really was good.
Looks like raiding the Agri–Science Institute and bringing the whole crew back was the best call she’d ever made.
Even though she had plenty of fruits and veggies stashed in her spatial storage, nothing beat the taste of something fresh–picked.
Looks like you guys kept yourselves busy while I was gone,” Josie remarked, looking around.
You bet we did!” Winnie grinned. “You were out there putting your life on the line, so we had to hold down the fort. Take a breather, Boss. I’m hitting the kitchen right now!”
With that, Winnie turned and bolted off, practically glowing with energy.
lome watched her go, taking in the scene. Everything was coming together, thriving. Honestly? It didn’t feel half bad.
Her whole lone wolf plan might need a serious rethink.
Whatever As long as they stayed in line and did what they were told, she didn’t mind looking out for them.
Living solo was a total bore Having them around, all that yapping… it actually made the place feel alive.
Over the next few days, the base went into a full–on construction frenzy
The Agri–Suence geeks were pros at farming, but they knew their way around a blueprint, too They had plenty of ideas on how to beef up the place
The Blue Owl Squad handled the heavy lifting

MATHI
A bunch of jacked guys went shirtless, hauling bricks and stacking walls. They were grinding hard.
If you had a superpower, you used it. If not, you used raw muscle.
