It doesn’t work like that. It really doesn’t.
To use your powers, you usually have to be face–to–face. You have to at least see who you’re hitting.
But a sniper? A sniper doesn’t care about that.
He can hide in some dark corner and pick you off from distance.
You wouldn’t even know where the shot came from.
How do you fight someone like that?
If the other guy is using guns, you need guns too. Simple as that.
Otherwise, it was a suicide mission.
Why else would the Base swallow its pride and crawl to Josie for a deal?
Their hands were tied.
The Base looked over the manifest. Josie was only offering light weapons and ammo. Medium–grade gear? Heavy artillery? Not a single piece.
She was clearly playing it safe. She didn’t trust the Base for a second.
Albert stared at the trade list, his brow furrowed deep. “This girl… Josie… she’s too damn sharp.”
Dad,” Tate cut in. “Forget the deal. Let’s just set an ambush. We hit them on the road and take it all. Catch them completely off guard.”
“Great idea. One problem: where are you going to hide?” Albert snapped back. “It’s a frozen wasteland out there. Every inch of ground is covered in snow. How are you going to track her route when the roads don’t even exist anymore?”
Tate went quiet for a second, then gritted his teeth. “So what? We just let her bleed us dry? She’s asking for a fortune.”
“It’s not even about the price. It’s the principle. It feels like a slap in the face to just hand it over.”
Albert looked him dead in the eye. “Then give me a better option. Besides her, who else in this hellhole has this much hardware?”
Tate had no answer. He shut his mouth.
With no other choice, the Base folded and accepted Josie’s terms.
Wrapped in thick layers to brave the freeze, Josie arrived at the Base gates once again.
Being a Spatial Super really is a cheat code. No bags, no heavy lifting. Everything stays tucked away in my spatial storage.
“Chief Quinn, go ahead and check the count. Everything you asked for is right here.” A guy led Josie into a massive warehouse packed to the ceiling. He pointed at the mountains of crates and added, “You can just leave the weapons here when you’re done.”
Josie gave a short nod.
The guy was smart enough to know when to get lost. He dropped the keys and walked out without another word.
Josie swept the supplies into her space with a thought. Then, with a flick of her wrist, she dumped the weapons in their place.
Looking at that massive warehouse full of gear traded for such a small pile of guns, Josie felt a surge of satisfaction. The grudge she’d been holding finally started to cool down.
That’s what you get for not taking me seriously, she thought.
Josie turned to leave, but as she stepped out, she saw June standing there. She wasn’t just passing by; she was clearly waiting for her.
Oh?

All by herself?
I guess she wasn’t worried about getting her ass kicked again.

“Josie,” June said, her voice small and shaky. “Mom and Dad miss you. They made a whole spread at home. They want you to come over for dinner.”
