Chapter 250

The bullet hit the dirt just short of the entrance.

It was the spark that set the Blue Owl Squad’s rage ablaze.

“Light ’em up!” Zane’s voice was low and cold. “Show these bastards who really owns the range!”

“On it!”

Zane gave the word, and the Blue Owl guns roared to life.

These Haven City refugees were total amateurs. Compared to them, the Blue Owl Squad was in a different league. Their aim was lethal.

The snipers started picking them off.

One shot, one kill.

They went straight for the guys in charge.

Pop. Pop. Pop.

The leaders didn’t even see it coming. They caught lead and hit the dirt instantly.

“Shit! They’ve got snipers!” the Haven City mob lost it. “Stay back! Get the heavy gear out-we’re blowing this damn gate wide open!”

“If they’re using snipers, they definitely have the good shit stashed inside!”

“This is it, boys! We either feast tonight or we starve! It’s now or never!”

“Everyone, charge!”

Rat-tat-tat-tat!

A hail of lead slammed into the walls of Quinshaw Base.

The two sides were about a thousand yards apart.

For a seasoned pro, that was an easy shot.

But these Haven City losers? Most of them hadn’t even touched a gun before the world went to hell.

Thanks to the strict gun laws back in the day, they were all total rookies.

Their aim was a joke.

They sprayed bullets for a while only to find the gate didn’t have a scratch. It didn’t even flinch.

Desperation started to set in.

“This is useless. We’re not even scratching their walls,” someone realized, shouting over the noise. “We have to get close. We have to rush

them!”

“I’ve got intel. This base is tiny. They barely have anyone inside.”

“And half of them are just old people.”

“They only have maybe fifty guys who can actually fight!”

“There are thousands of us. You’re telling me we can’t take out fifty people?”

“We charge. We close the gap and end this!”

Someone else cut in, skeptical. “Are you an idiot? They have guns and superpowers. If we get close, we’re just target practice.”

“Even if they have snipers, how much ammo can they have? We play the long game. We wait until they’re out of supplies.”

“When that happens, they’ll be sitting ducks!”

“You don’t know shit! ‘Sitting ducks’ my ass!” the first guy snapped, his face red with frustration. “Look at the weather! If we don’t get inside right now, we’re going to freeze to death out here. They won’t be the ones dying-we will!”

Both sides had a point.

But their leader was already a corpse, courtesy of a sniper bullet.

The rest of them huddled up, argued for a minute, and finally decided to roll the dice.

They would charge.

But who would go first?

Their eyes shifted in unison, landing on the crowd of starving refugees behind them.
