Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 253

Chapter 253

Josie and Zane were spot on. Back at the base, things were a total mess.

Albert’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. He slammed his fist onto the desk, hard. What do you mean they won’t move? They meryal base! They’re part of us now! If they won’t step up in a war, then what the hell are they here for?

His subordinate looked like he was ready to cry. They said if we want them to move, they want their old CO back. No commander, no fight

Goddammit!Albert roared. He swept everything off his desk in one violent motion, papers and supplies flying everywhere. His chew based with rage. They’re dead! How the hell am I supposed to bring them back?!

For the first time, Albert felt a real stab of regret.

He’d been too greedy for power. To take total control, he had framed the top military brass and had them, disappeared early on

Now, that choice was biting him in the ass.

He couldn’t move those soldiers. Not a single one of them.

They didn’t give a damn about his orders.

This was exactly why Albert had been so obsessed with leveling up his superpowers lately.

He knew he couldn’t lead them with respect, so he wanted to rule them with fear. Brute force was the only way to keep them in line. The military had a massive number of Supers, and they were tightknit. They were a pack.

If he tried to force them now, they’d revolt in a heartbeat.

The whole base would tear itself apart from the inside.

That wasn’t the outcome Albert wanted.

So, he’d played it cool. He’d sucked it up and waited.

His plan was to wait until his power hit the next level, then crush any resistance and force them to submit to him.

But he hadn’t reached that level yet, and now the refugees from Haven City were already storming the gates of Fort City Base. It was too late for regrets now. He was screwed.

Go ask Josie for help!Albert spat, jaw tight. I don’t care what she asks for. Whatever her price ispay it.”

But sir, she’s barely got anyone out there, his subordinate stammered. How is her tiny crew supposed to back us up?

With heavy artillery, you idiot!Albert snapped. One wellplaced longrange strike and these refugees are history. They won’t even be a threat anymore.

The subordinate hesitated for a second, then nodded. Understood. I’ll get Chief Quinn on the line immediately.

When the SOS call from the base finally came through, Josie wasn’t even surprised

She Zane a quick wink. Her prediction had just come true.
