Chapter 268

Braking diery

Lane panicked shouting for Jose Josic! Get over here! What the hell is going on with him?

Torre finished off the last undead of her end and vaulted over from the next block

se look told her everything she needed to know.

He a relying too much on brute force and not enough on his ability. That’s why he’s unstable.” Jose said the flicked her hand, arid z me creen ving-thick as a python-lashed out. It scooped up a hundred undead like they were nothing and dragged them right in front of Huq Hudson, kill them? No hands, no weapons-abilities only!”

If you don’t lock this in now, your rank will tank. You’ll be stuck at Rank-3 for the rest of your life!

You don’t want to watch your teammates become high-rank supers while you’re left behind in the dust, do you?

The veins on Hudson’s neck popped. “I won’t let it happen!” he roared. “I’m ranking up!”

Then get to killing” Josie snapped. She lashed out with her massive vines again, dragging hundreds of undead over to him.

The rest of the squad stopped fighting and formed a defensive circle. They were there to guard him, making sure nothing touched him he broke through.

Hudson ditched the physical combat entirely. He went all-in, pouring every ounce of his superpower into the fight. Aquatic abilities weren’t exactly built for the front lines. They could be lethal, sure, but combat wasn’t their specialty.

felt soft. It lacked that raw, direct punch that Metallic or Lightning powers had.

That was why Hudson’s breakthrough wasn’t going nearly as smoothly as Josie’s or Zane’s.

Every time Hudson cleared a wave, Josie would just yank another pile of undead right into his face.

To force Hudson to unlock his potential, Josie had rounded up nothing but Tier-3 Undead for him to face.

Only when you’re staring death in the face can you really push past your limits. It’s the only way to force a breakthrough. And it worked.

By the time Josie dragged in the fifth undead for him, Hudson finally hit his stride. He went all in, forcing his power to stabilize. He’d done it. Rank-4!

Nice work, Hudson!” Zane slapped Hudson’s shoulder, looking hyped. “You’re the real deal!”

#fudson managed a grin, turning to Josie with a look of pure gratitude. “Thanks, Ms. Quinn. I owe you one.”

Focus on stabilizing your power,” Josie said, nodding as she accepted his thanks. “We need to move fast. This is a rare window-I want veryone in this squad at Tier-4 before the thaw hits.”

I’m already at Tier-5,” she continued. “Even if you’re one foot in the grave, I can drag you back.”

So for the next few days, if you aren’t dead, you’re training. Hard. Once the temperature rises and the mutants wake up, our head start is gone. You got that?”

“Loud and clear!” the Blue Owl Squad roared in unison.

Their morale was through the roof.

With Josie, Zane, and Hudson setting the bar, the rest of the squad went into overdrive. They fought like they had a death wish.

Since Josie had already hit Tier-5, she took a step back to act as their guardian and support.

Whenever someone’s stamina started to flag, she hit them with a wave of Plant-type energy.

One recharge, and they were right back in the fight.
