Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269

Doven by pure desperation and a need to win, the Blue Cel members started breaking through, one after another.

Now, only five people were left stuck at the final hurdle

Those five were losing their damn minds.

They had all started together.

Their power levels used to be the same.

Seeing everyone else get ahead while they stayed stuck-the mental pressure was soul-crushing

ven when the others took a breather, they refused to stop. They threw themselves at the undead like they had a death wish Josie was mid-bite when she suddenly bolted upright.

Without a word, she yanked a three-foot Katana from her storage space and swung it hard into the air!

SCREE-P

split second later.

Everyone saw it-a massive mutant cat, its claws clashing against Josie’s blade.

The mutants are waking up early,” Zane barked. “The rest of you, keep grinding! Don’t stop! Josie’s got this!”

Before the words even left his mouth, Josie was already locked in a lethal dance with the beast.

This time, Josie wasn’t just boosting her ability. Her physical stats were hitting a whole new level, too.

The cat Josie was tangling with was a mid-tier mutant. It was fast as hell and hit like a truck.

But even with that edge, it couldn’t catch a break. Josie was absolutely schooling the thing.

Her blade seemed to have eyes of its own. No matter where the cat tried to bolt, Josie read its every move. She was always one step ahead, cutting off its path before it could even jump.

It didn’t take long before she had it backed into a corner. The cat was done it didn’t even have the strength to fight back anymore.

Josie pulled back her knife and flicked her wrist.

A dozen golden spikes shot out, slamming the mutant cat into the wall and pinning it there like a bug. It was dead before it could even screech. Josie walked over to the mutated cat. It was barely clinging to life. She placed her hand on its head, checking for a superpower. She needed to know if it was something she could siphon.

Scan complete. No siphonable powers detected.”

Josie pulled her hand back. She didn’t blink. With one swift motion, she slit the throat of the mutated cat which was easily the size of a tiger cub-and tossed the carcass toward Lirio.

Lirio’s branches shot out, snatching the body mid-air. It started feasting immediately, devouring every bit.

In just a few days, Lirio had bulked up. It was way thicker than before, practically doubling in size.

Its aura had changed, too. It felt mysterious now-heavy and impossible to read.

Clearly, the tree had been feasting on a lot of undead lately.

“Everyone, pick up the pace,” Josie said. “We’re staying here for two more days, max. After that, we’re heading back, regardless of whether you’ve leveled up or not.”

“Got it!”

Zane noticed the look on Josie’s face and walked over to sit with her. “Is something coming?”

“The mutants are way more aggressive now that hibernation is over,” Josie replied. “No wonder Cyrus said the last six months were just a grace period for humans and the undead to power up.”

“You saw me fight that cat, right?”
