Chapter 279
The crew went all out, slaughtering everything in their path.
Meanwhile…
Thousands of miles away, Cyrus’s eyes snapped open.
He squeezed his hand into a tight fist.
Power Raw, pulsing power. God, it felt good.
The second he hit Level 6, every undead in the area dropped to their knees. It wasn’t a choice, it was instinctual submission. Their Alpha had arrived.
Cyrus stepped out onto the trashed, empty street. The massive horde parted like a black tide, carving out a wide path just for him
“Not bad, Cyrus said, a dark smirk tugging at his lips. “Worth the grind.”
“Now, I just need those nukes. Where the hell are they hiding them?”
“Better
yet,
I need to grab someone who actually knows how they work. A specialist.”
“If I can’t find warheads, I’ll just have them built.”
TII have as many as I want.”
Cyrus strolled forward, leaving a massive, gaping sinkhole in his wake.
The ruins faded into the distance behind him.
Suddenly, he took off. He was a blur, and in a heartbeat, he vanished from the spot.
At the speed he was moving, Josie didn’t stand a damn chance of catching him.
That was why she felt the most pressure. Her survival instincts were screaming.
She had been out here killing for four days and four nights straight.
Her big, beautiful eyes were shot through with blood. She was exhausted, and it showed.
But even then, she had no intention of stopping.
She just kept swinging her greatsword. Methodically. One hit after another.
Zoom out, and the scene was a massacre.
Behind her, the bodies she’d slaughtered were piled high like mountains.
There were undead, and there were mutant beasts.
The mutant flora didn’t even dare to get close.
Between her raw Plant Manipulation and the scent of her contract with Lirio, the local plants were terrified of her. They kept their
distance.
So, this bloodbath was strictly limited to the undead and the animals.
Huff. Huff. She cut down the final zombie. With a quick wave of her hand, the massive pile of corpses vanished into her storage space.

This was all food for Lirio.
Couldn’t let it go to waste.

She had a mouth to feed, after all.
Josie had lost count of how many mountains of corpses she’d collected by now.
But her ability was still stuck. She was hovering right between Level 5 and Level 6, and the progress was agonizingly slow.
The higher the rank, the harder it is to level up.
That was why Josie was so pissed off. Cyrus had cheated his way to the next rank using nuclear radiation.
“Josie!” Zane yelled from a distance. “I’ve got something big to tell you!”
