Chapter 283

There were rey

themon toig fat the t

one were members of the Blue Owl Squad.

Everyone else stayed behind to hold down the fort at the bage

Before they rolled out losie pulled every piece of gear and weaponry they could prgebly need out of her storage space.

She made sure they were armed to the teeth

Firearms still worked against Tier-3 Undead and Mutants barely

They weren’t as effective as superpowers, but they did the job.

Especially in a massive siege. You just point and shoot, and you’re bound to tear through a crowd.

After all, Josie wasn’t packing cheap pistols. She only carried heavy iron with serious stopping power.

She still hadn’t heard anything about Lirio’s evolution. There had been zero news since the plant left. Josie wasn’t really worried, though.

That little thing was a sneaky bastard. It could take care of itself.

Josie rolled out five vehicles, with four or five people to a car. The convoy kicked into gear and headed straight for Newport City.

Word of Josie’s departure quickly reached the base.

June had just finished absorbing her last Tier-4 Undead Core. She felt incredible, like she was floating on air.

God, it felt good!

“How do you feel?” Tate walked in and rested his hands on June’s shoulders.

“Better than ever!” June clenched her fist, a confident smirk spreading across her face. “It won’t be long before I surpass Josie. When that day comes, I’m taking back everything I lost. Every single thing!”

“Exactly! Even if she is a Triple-Type, a Level 6 crushes a Level 5 every time. In this world, rank is everything,” Tate said with a smirk. “By the way, I’ve

got

fresh intel. Josie and her crew are already on the move. They’re heading for Newport City.”

“Newport City? What for?” June’s gut twisted. She didn’t like it. Every time Josie did something, June felt like she was losing her grip on the situation.

“Word is, there’s a nuclear stockpile out there,” Tate explained. “The base wanted to tag along, but Josie shut us down. Hard. She sent word that if she catches us on the road, she’ll wipe us out before we even get close.”

“Your sister is one cold bitch, you know that?”

“Nukes?” June frowned, genuinely confused. “What’s the point? To kill the Undead? If she actually uses them, the radiation will kill us just as fast as the

r monsters.”

“Who knows?” Tate shrugged. “Maybe it’s a last resort. You know, a ‘if we go down, everyone goes down’ kind of deal.*

“Forget her,” June said, her voice dripping with disdain. “Actually, this is better. Let her waste her time on a wild goose chase. Every hour she spends on that pointless mission is an hour she isn’t leveling up.”

“By the time she crawls back, I’ll be a solid Level 6.”

“Once that happens, Josie won’t be the one calling the shots anymore.”

“When that happens, we can do whatever the hell we want. We won’t have to walk on eggshells around her or take her orders ever again!*

“Damn right,” Tate grinned. “Your potential is insane. I’ve never seen anyone level up as fast as you. Once you hit Level 6, you’ll be the only Grand Super

in the entire base.”

“Just don’t forget about me when you’re at the top, alright?”

“How could I?” June’s voice turned sweet as honey as she looked at him. “I’ll never forget how much you’ve helped me get here, Tate.”
