Chapter 317.
Josie Quinn followed their gaze.
In the distance, a troop of monkeys was charging toward them. These weren’t ordinary monkeys-they were massive. They looked less like monkeys and more like gorillas.

It was common knowledge that a gorilla’s combat prowess was terrifying. An adult silverback possessed strength over eight times that of a human, could lift 1,800 pounds, and could shatter tempered or bulletproof glass with a single punch. In a forest environment, they were almost unrivaled.
That was why movies like ‘King Kong’ existed. Ordinary humans stood no chance against such creatures. Even Supers could only hold their own because of their enhanced physical bodies.
But there was a problem.
These monkeys were traveling in a pack. At a glance, there were at least several hundred of them.
And there were only twenty humans.
Hundreds of monkeys with the combat power of silverbacks against twenty humans? No matter how you looked at it, this was a death trap. Josie’s mind raced. She guessed the reason instantly.
These Undead and mutant monkeys were likely orchestrated by Cyrus Finch. He wasn’t sure exactly where she was hiding, but he knew that if he blocked every team from leaving the city, she wouldn’t be able to slip away under his nose.
What a low blow! Shameless, but effective.
Then again, when had Cyrus ever cared about ethics? To snatch the remaining nuclear warheads first, he would use every unscrupulous method in the book.
Josie stepped forward, gripping her iron rod.
This time, while she wouldn’t use her superpowers, she had no intention of hiding her raw strength. Otherwise, none of them would make it out of Newport City today.
“Stay back,” Josie said, standing at the front of the group.
Her aura suddenly exploded.
A truly powerful person carried a tangible sense of pressure. Even though Josie only spoke one sentence, that invisible, unquestionable dominance made the people behind her instinctively want to submit and follow her lead.
“You-” The captain started to speak, but he watched as Josie charged ahead, Iron Rod in hand.
The next second, the sight of the combat left the entire team speechless.
The monkeys, each as large as a silverback, seemed like mere children in front of Josie. They couldn’t even get close to her. The five-foot Iron Rod in her hands was a blur of lethal precision.
One swing, one kill.
Two down with a double strike.
Whenever a monkey lunged, it was killed instantly. She didn’t even need a second strike.
Instant kills!.
The sheer combat power was terrifying. To anyone else, these hundreds of monkeys would have been a catastrophe. To Josie, it was no different than slaughtering chickens.
She single-handedly held back the entire pack!
With this kind of strength, she could rank in the top ten of the Newport City Sanctuary even without a superpower. No wonder she dared to come to Newport City single-handedly. With strength like this, where couldn’t she go?
They had seriously underestimated her.
“Don’t just stand there!” the captain shouted. “She shouldn’t have to do all the work! It’s because we’re too weak that she had to step in. I’m moving her share of the Credits to the top tier. Any objections?”
“None!”
“Agreed!”
With combat power like that, who would dare object? The strong were never questioned; they were never defied.
“Support the flanks!” At the captain’s command, the remaining men split into two squads, positioning themselves to the left and right behind Josie to pick off any monkeys she didn’t hit.
