Chapter 396.
“How many children are in your group Josie asked, “Don’t be nervous, I don’t mean anything by it. As you can see, our team doesn’t lack food. We
won’t eat children!”
Kira’s tense shoulders finally relaxed at Josie’s words.
She hesitated for a moment before answering. “There are thirty-two of us in total. I’m the oldest at twenty-two. Below me, there are three sixteen-year-olds, five fourteen-year-olds, six twelve-year-olds, and the rest are all under eight.”
“When I go out to look for food, the older kids help take care of the little ones,”
“So, since I’ve told you everything I know, could you spare a little extra food?” Kira asked in a low voice. “We haven’t eaten a real meal in a very long time! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy-even wheat bran is fine. If you have salt, that would be even better!”

“You haven’t gone too far yet. Take the detour at the
crossroads ahead.”
Josie shook her head. “That route might be safer, but it’s a massive detour. We’re in a hurry, so I’m afraid I’ll have to decline your kind offer.”
was talking about. Josie and her team had already discussed the detour
There was a massive bridge on that route. It would have been fine before the apocalypse, but now? It was a gamble. If the bridge had collapsed, they would have to turn back and take this road anyway.
While the land route was dangerous, as long as there wasn’t a massive earthquake, they could always find a way across damaged roads. But if a bridge was down, there was no simple way across.
They were committed to going through the heart of Quartz City to reach the other side!
After Kira left, Josie called Zane Shaw over. “What do you think?”
“You want to recruit her?” Zane immediately saw through Josie’s intentions. “She’s a great asset on her own, but she’s carrying thirty-one children *
