Mars
Two months flew by in a blur of steel and sweat.
When Josie walked into the house one evening, it looked like a military logistics depot.
Heavy bags of rice and flour were stacked to the ceiling. Crates of vacuum–sealed meat, fresh fruit, and vegetables covered every inch of the floor. Mountains of broad–spectrum antibiotics and bottled water blocked the hallways.
They even bought inflatable kayaks, heavy–duty machetes, axes, and gas–powered cutters.
They hadn’t missed a single detail.
Josie smirked. She was genuinely impressed by their desperation.
Sylvia spotted her looking at the crates and froze like a deer in headlights. She looked guilty as hell. “Oh! Some… business partners are just storing this here temporarily,” she lied, her voice pitching up nervously. ‘It’ll be gone tomorrow morning.”
‘Got it, Josie said, flashing a polite smile.
She turned and walked to her room.
Behind her, Josie heard Sylvia let out a massive, shaky sigh of relief. Thank God she’s so stupid.
In her room, Josie locked the door and checked the calendar.
Eighty–one days of brutal forging. Her Legendary Blade was finally finished. It could slice through solid iron like a hot knife through butter.
She was ready.
In the master bedroom next door, June was doing a final, obsessive inventory check of her hidden stash.
Her spatial vault was packed to the absolute limit. She even had live chickens, calves, and lambs quarantined in a corner of the void.
To fund this massive haul, June had bled Victor Wallace–a rich, arrogant trust–fund boy–completely dry. She took his cash, manipulated his. connections, and hoarded his resources.
We have enough,” Sylvia whispered to June through the thin walls. Should we leave tonight? We took out loans from every shark in the city. When hey come looking to break legs, they’ll come for Josie. The house is in her name.”
une sneered, her voice dripping with malice. “What’s the rush, Morn? I promised Victor I’d deliver my sister to his bed tomorrow. He’s going to pay at diller price for her.”
That face of hers is a goldmine. With the cash I get from selling her, I can finally buy us that yacht.”
in the dark hallway, Josie listened. Her eyes turned ice–cold.
Perfect.
it was time.
Midnight. The house was dead quiet.
lose easily picked the lock to June’s room and slipped inside like a ghost.
Who’s there? June jolted awake, clutching her blankets.
It was pitch black She couldn’t see a thing, but Josie knew she could feel the primal danger in the room. A cold shiver ran down June’s spine.
Josie didn’t say a word. She simply stepped out of the shadows and swung her arm
CRACK!
A brutal, heavy–handed slap caught June right across the jaw. Her head snapped back violently. She was knocked our cold before she even hit the pillow.
Josie grabbed a handful of her hair, yanked her head back, and pressed her palm flat against June’s forehead
A glowing blue screen flashed in the dark
[Detectable Superpower: Spatial Vault. Siphon? Yes/No

A blinding ball of pure white light ripped out of June’s forehead. It shot straight into Josie’s chest, sinking deep into her core.
Instantly, a massive, endless void opened in Josie’s mind’s eye.
Mountains of food. Crates of tactical weapons. High–end winter gear. Medicine. Even a massive artificial lake of fresh water and a plot of rich, black soil.
June really was a monster hoarder.
But now? It was all Josie’s.
A new timer appeared on her interface: [Next Siphon available in: 7 days.]
osie smirked, dropping June’s head carelessly onto the mattress. She turned and walked out.
The next morning, a blood–curdling, glass–shattering scream shook the foundation of the house.
NO!” June shrieked, her voice tearing with pure, agonizing terror. “My space! Where is my space?! My supplies! THEY’RE GONE!”
Arthur and Sylvia burst out of their room, frantic and half–dressed. “What happened?!”
Mom! Dad!” June grabbed her own head, tearing at her hair like a madwoman. She looked absolutely insane. “I can’t feel my space! It’s empty! Everything is fcking gone!”
Arthur’s legs gave out. He crashed heavily to the hardwood floor. “How is that possible? Try again! Focus! Maybe you forgot how to open it!”
June, stop joking!” Sylvia wailed, her face turning pale. “Every single cent we own is in there! How will we survive?!”
I tried! I tried a thousand times!” June sobbed, rocking back and forth. She looked like a hollowed–out ghost. “It’s just… gone.”
