Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 426

Chapter 426.

“Maybe they have something to rely on,” Josie said with a light chuckle. “Otherwise, why would they be so bold? Being neighbors with a Mutant Goat Herd and living in peace… they must have some skill. Unfortunately, their skill is small, but their ambition is huge.”

“Josie, I’ll go deal with them,” one of the squad members offered.

“No need.” Josie waved him off. “A few small cockroaches aren’t worth the extra effort. We’ve been delayed enough today. We can’t let such a minor thing disrupt our schedule. Our priority is to outrun the earthquake zone. No one knows how much land this Doomsday Quake is going to flip upside down.”

“Understood!” the others nodded. “We’ll follow your lead, Josie!”

The convoy continued to roll down the road, moving openly and boldly.

They passed through a stretch of wilderness and stopped at a derelict village. The sky was getting dark, making it unsuitable for continued travel. After all, sitting in a car all day was exhausting. Furthermore, the group consisted mostly of elderly people and children. Most of them either had no powers or very weak ones; they needed proper rest at night.

After Josie got out of the car, she casually pulled two sniper rifles from her spatial storage and tossed them to the members of the Blue Owl Squad beside her. “If any cockroaches that don’t know their place get close, take them out immediately. Don’t let them disturb our sleep!”

“Yes, ma’am?” The two squad members took the guns and departed.

Josie turned to the rest of the group. “Everyone, clear out a space to rest tonight. Dinner “Yes!” everyone shouted in unison.

Josie put her hands behind her back and began to stroll through the abandoned village.

in one hour!”

A house felt completely different depending on whether people lived in it or not. When people were present, they maintained and repaired it, keeping the structure and appearance in good shape. Once abandoned, a house fell apart quickly. Plants would invade, and animals would tear it down.

The houses in this village were a mess. Most were destroyed by Mutant Flora beyond recognition. Aside from a few brick walls that still hinted at their former glory, the buildings were either teetering on the edge of collapse or had already fallen.

Finding a place to rest wasn’t going to be easy.

Fortunately, everyone was a Super with strong hands-on abilities. Since they couldn’t find a whole house, they chose a ruined structure with three standing walls. After clearing it out and reinforcing the walls, they set up tents inside. Everyone moved in according to gender and numbers.

Winnie Lane rolled up her sleeves and led the children to start digging fire pits for cooking.

Although they had prepared plenty of ready-to-eat rations, how could those compare to the aroma of freshly cooked food? Most importantly, freshly cooked meals provided a sense of atmosphere-the feeling that no matter how hard on tired they were, it was all worth it.

Winnie used every ounce of her skill to showcase her cooking.

The scent was so heavenly it made countless people drool.
