Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 427

Chapter 427.

“What are you afraid of?” the man beside him replied. “Fortune favors the bold! One lucky break and we’ll turn our copper into gold! If we don’t take a risk, when are we ever going to eat a meal like that again? I’d rather die with a full stomach than live as a starving ghost!*

“You’re right! We ambush them tonight!*

However, they had no idea that while they were plotting their attack on Josie and her team, a pair of cold eyes was watching them from the shadows.

“Hey, hey, stop pulling my leg!” one of the bandits muttered in a low voice

Tm not pulling your leg!” the man next to him answered, looking completely baffled.

“Stop lying, you-” The first man instinctively turned around, only to see a massive spider opening its fangs right in front of his face.

His mouth fell open in terror, his eyes bulging. He opened his throat to scream for help, but a glob of webbing shot out, instantly plugging his mouth, nostrils, eyes, and ears.

The silk covered his entire face in a split second.

A moment later, his entire body was wrapped into a thick human cocoon and yanked away into the darkness.

“What were you saying?” the man beside him asked, oblivious to what had just happened. He waited for the rest of the sentence, but after a few seconds of silence, he turned his head.

The spot beside him was empty. His partner was gone.

“Huh? Where’d he go?” He froze. “He was just here a second ago.”

Then, he felt something tugging at his own leg.

Sensing something was horribly wrong, he whipped his head around. He came face-to-face with a spider the size of a millstone, its glowing green eyes fixed on him as it bared its fangs.

“Ah-!” His scream was instantly smothered by a spray of webbing, vanishing without a trace.

Another massive human cocoon was dragged away.

As the creature moved through the streets, more and more cocoons were pulled into the shadows. No one knew if the things inside the silk were humans, animals, or something else entirely.

“Did you hear that?” Zane Shaw snapped his eyes open and asked his teammates.

The members of the Blue Owl Squad opened their eyes almost simultaneously, shaking their heads at Zane.

“It’s nothing. Go back to sleep,” Josie Quinn said, standing up. “I’ll handle it. It’s not a big problem.”

If Josie said it wasn’t a big problem, then it truly wasn’t.

Actually, Lirio had already alerted Josie earlier that evening. A Mutant Giant Spider was stalking the village, hunting small animals for food.
