Chapter 432.
Josie handed her flamethrower to a teammate and began to prep herself. She tightened her sleeves, cinched her ankles, and laced her boots to the top. She pulled on a protective mask, sealing every inch of her skin except for her eyes and nose.
Once she was fully covered, she charged straight into the center of the swarm.
Behind her, thousands of small golden swords and silver knives manifested, instantly forming a Bladestorm Array that screamed toward the Giant Spider.
The spider was still in the middle of labor. Seeing Josie launch an attack, it ground its limbs together, emitting a sharp, piercing screech of fury. In the already chaotic night, the sound was agonizingly shrill,
Josie didn’t care about its rage. This was a war of species. There was no room for mercy or negotiation.
Her Metallic Superpower couldn’t handle the tiny babies, but it was perfect for the mother. The blades spun in a blur, diving for the creature’s hide.
The Giant Spider continued to birth its brood while simultaneously spitting massive amounts of webbing to defend itself. The silk was incredibly sticky, snagging many of Josie’s flying blades before they could strike.
However, the blades were just a distraction.
The real killing blow was the seeds Josie had tossed earlier. Under her influence, they quietly sprouted behind the spider. Suddenly, a mass of Mutant Thorns erupted from the earth. They surged upward, wrapping around the Giant Spider’s body. The thorns were like steel needles, puncturing its flesh and anchoring it to the spot.
The spider thrashed violently, trying to tear itself free. Normally, a few vines wouldn’t be enough to hold a creature of its size, but it was currently hindered by the birthing process. It couldn’t move too much without killing its own offspring.
Josie seized the opening. She used a ruthlessly efficient tactic to pin the creature to the ground.
Now, it was time for the finale.
Josie used her Metal Manipulation to condense a five-foot-long iron rod in her hands. She gripped it tight and swung it with everything
she had.
*WHAM!
With a single, devastating blow, the sticky webbing was instantly swept away. The silk clung to the rod, but she didn’t care. She simply manifested a new one.
In the span of a few heartbeats, Josie was standing directly in front of the creature. She raised the heavy iron rod high over her head and brought it down. Crushing Zenith!
CRACK!
CRUNCH!!
Josie put seventy to eighty percent of her full strength into the strike. Even with its reinforced chitinous shell, the Giant Spider couldn’t withstand the impact.
The creature let out one last, ear-piercing screech before it was smashed into two jagged pieces.
The moment the mother died, the “explosion” happened.
