Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 431

Chapter 431

Chapter 431.

Zane Shaw’s efficiency was legendary.

The moment he heard Josie Quinn’s orders, he turned and sprinted to gather the team. Every Pyro Super was called to the front. They formed a tight defensive circle, unleashing a relentless torrent of fire dragons.

Those without fire powers grabbed flamethrowers, scorching the ground in a steady, sweeping arc.

“Stay sharp!” Josie warned them. “Whatever you do, don’t let those spiderlings bite you. They might not tear off a chunk of flesh, but their venom is lethal!*

Most people knew spiders were venomous, but few had a grasp of just how dangerous they could be. In nature, spider venom is a complex chemical cocktail of proteins, peptides, and small molecules designed to paralyze the nervous system for hunting and defense.

For a human, a bite didn’t just mean intense pain, swelling, or tissue damage. It could trigger systemic neurotoxicity, respiratory failure,

and death.

Although Josie possessed a Plant-type Superpower capable of healing almost any wound, neurotoxins were different. They attacked the nerves directly. Even if she could heal the damage, it often left behind long-term neurological side effects.

Beyond that, there was only one Josie and dozens of teammates. She couldn’t heal everyone at once. If someone succumbed to the venom too quickly, they would kick the bucket.

Caution was the only option.

‘Copy that, Josie!” the others shouted. Here they come!”

The words had barely left their lips before a tide of spiderlings surged toward the group. To these starving newborns, human flesh was like a fragrant, tiered cake. They threw themselves forward in waves, desperate for their first meal.

They didn’t care that the flames in front of them would turn them into ash. This was the moment they needed energy most. If they could taste human meat now, their path to further evolution would be secured.

Meanwhile, the Mutant Giant Spider was still giving birth. It seemed as if its bloated abdomen held an infinite supply of offspring.

Josie and her team stood their ground, their nerves pulled taut. For the sake of their own lives, not a single spider could be allowed to escape this circle tonight.

Josie, this isn’t working!” a Pyro Super shouted over the roar of the flames. “We have to take out the mother! If she keeps pumping these things out, we’ll never finish them off!”

Josie nodded. She agreed.

But the team was currently pinned down. Every person was responsible for a specific sector of the perimeter; if one person moved, the line would break.

While Josie was powerful, her primary attacks were better suited for large targets. The bigger the enemy, the more effective she was. These spiderlings were the size of rice grains. Using her Metallic or Plant-type powers on them was like using a cannon to swat a fly. It was inefficient.

Fire was the only true solution. Fire and constant, high-heat incineration.

Josie, let’s just use incendiary shells!” one of the men suggested. “We can burn that giant spider to a crisp!”

“No’ We’re too close! Zane immediately vetoed the idea. The splash damage would hit us, too!”

“But there are too many of them! We can’t burn them all!”

Everyone looked to Josie, waiting for her call.

“Hold the line as best you can,” Josie commanded. “Block as many as possible. I’m going to settle this with the mother. The moment the Giant Spider dies, the spiderlings will go into a frenzy. You must hold that perimeter! If you don’t, we’ll have to abandon camp and run for our lives in the middle of the night!”
