Josie scoffed. Another dumbass.

Whatever. I might as well finish cleaning house before I hit the sack,Josie said. Guess I don’t get to be lazy today.

The words had barely left her mouth when she stopped using her metal powers. Instead, she reached into her void space and hauled out her massive greatsword.

Without a word, Josie gripped the hilt with both hands and unleashed a massive, horizontal sweep.

You know why they call it a greatsword?

Because if it isn’t heavy, it isn’t a greatsword.

The number one rule for a weapon like this: it has to be heavy.

Dead heavy.

The more weight it carries, the harder it hits.

It was five feet long and eight inches wide. With the hilt included, the thing was as tall as she was.

It weighed nearly a hundred pounds.

Most people couldn’t even lift the damn thing, let alone use it to cut someone down.

But in Josie’s hands, that sword moved like it weighed nothing. It whistled through the air, a blur of cold steel.

With a force that felt like it could split the sky, she slammed it right into the crowd.

CRACK. SMASH. THUD.

Anyone the blade touched was sent flying.

They either had their organs turned to mush and collapsed from internal bleeding, or their bones shattered instantly. They were dead before they even hit the ground.

In a single heartbeat, all twentysomething men were wiped out.

Winnie watched Josie’s badass display, her eyes wide and her jaw on the floor.

Holy shit. Oh my god.

She sent a silent prayer to her late mother for watching over her. She had hit the jackpot finding someone this strong.

This was it. She was hitching her wagon to Josie and never letting go.

Who who the hell are you? The leader choked out. He was hacking up blood, mixed with chunks of his own shredded organs

He was messed up bad.

Without a hospital, he was a dead man walking.

But everyone knew the truth: hospitals didn’t exist anymore.

They were the first places to go dark when the outbreak hit.

Now, hospitals were just playgrounds for the undead. No one was crazy enough to go near them.

The leader knew it. He was finished.

He just wanted a name before he kicked the bucker.

None of your damn business, Josie snapped. Typical Josie.

Watch out!Winnie screamed from behind. She saw someone creeping up, ready to jump Josie from her blind side

Josie didn’t even blink. She spun around, yanked a Colt M1911 from her storage space, racked the slide, and squeezed the trigger

Bang!

The guy dropped like a stone before he could even get close.

Josie casually blew the smoke from the muzzle.

She really had to thank that rich kid for the gift.

If she’d been scavenging on her own, she never would’ve found a piece like this.

Pure American steel. This thing was a beauty.

The Boss had been planning to distract her and go for a sneak attack, but seeing his man drop so fast? He froze. He was completely paralyzed with shock

He wasn’t a complete idiot. If he couldn’t see by now that Josie was a stonecold prothe kind of person you never, ever screw withthen he’d lived his life for nothing.

Ma’am! I messed up! I’m so sorry! Please, just let me go! I’ll never do it again! The Boss started slamming his head against the ground, desperate and begging for his life.

It’s getting late,Josie said, her voice flat. I need my sleep. She leveled the barrel of the gun at the men still standing, picking them off one by one.
