Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 469

Chapter 469.

Chapter 469.

The aftershocks gradually subsided.

The survivors who had escaped the jaws of death were now sprawled on the ground, staring up at a strange sky and a transformed

world.

Sylvia Sutton swallowed hard, her voice trembling. “June, we… what about your father…”

“Since we’ve made this choice, don’t regret it,” June Quinn said icily. “Supporting you alone is exhausting enough.”

“I don’t have time to worry about your feelings.”

“If you feel lonely, go find someone else to date. I won’t stop you.”

“But given the state of the world, don’t have any more children. I’m afraid there will be no one left to raise them.”

Sylvia’s face flushed with shame. “That’s not what I meant.”

“I don’t care what you meant. What’s done is done. We have to look forward. There’s no turning back now,” June said. “I’m sure Dad is watching over us from heaven, wanting us to be happy and safe.”

Hearing June’s self-deceiving words, Sylvia felt much better.

“Yes, you’re right. we have to look out for ourselves,” Sylvia whispered, trying to convince herself to forgive her own selfishness. “I’m your mother. Your choice to save me is beyond reproach! After all, I only have one daughter. But Arthur… he had two.”

June didn’t respond to that. She simply said, “Enough. We need to hurry. This magma zone is massive, and we have to circle around it. Who knows how much time we’ve already lost? I don’t even know where Josie and her team are now. This place is dangerous; we have

to leave.”

“Okay, I’ll follow your lead. My leg…” Sylvia started to worry. “I’m not trying to complain; I just don’t want to be a burden!”

“I’ll have a Metallic Super make you another prosthetic.” June climbed to her feet, brushing the dust from her clothes and smoothing her messy hair. She stared ahead with a grim expression. “We’re leaving right now!”

“Okay!”

As they reorganized the convoy, they realized only about two thousand people were left alive.

Those missing had likely been swallowed by the earth or tossed into the magma pool as fertilizer.

Having endured one blow after another, the people had lost the ability to cry.

They had also finally sobered up from the arrogance they had felt when they drove Josie away.

They finally understood that the reason they had lived so comfortably in Fort City wasn’t because they were powerful.

It was because they were lucky. They had a true powerhouse at the front absorbing all the pressure, allowing them to live without a care

in the world.

But what had they done?

They had driven away that powerhouse.

They had exiled the true guardian of Fort City.

Chapter 469.

Everything they were suffering now was a result of their own actions.

This thought circled in everyone’s minds, but not a single person dared to say it out loud.

They knew it was too late for regrets.

Josie had long since cleared the volcanic zone, leaving them far behind in the dust.

To her, they were nothing but indifferent ingrates. She wouldn’t lift a finger for them now.

With no other choice, they had to follow June to the bitter end.

Mani

Silently, everyone gathered their scattered supplies and checked which vehicles were still functional. They redistributed the people and resources and continued their march forward.

But it was this very detour that led June to finally encounter her partner from the previous life.

The Devouring Super, Jaxon Sterling.
