Chapter 499.

With June Quinn’s word, the others finally dared to step forward. They quickly moved to help her and Jaxon Sterling, who was still. pinned to the chair, and rushed them to the hospital.

The cinema actually had its own Plant-type Super on staff. They were stationed there to provide emergency treatment in case the wealthy or powerful patrons got into a fight and injured one another. After all, anyone who could afford a movie ticket in this economy was either rich or influential. They were people the staff couldn’t afford to offend.

Ironically, before any other privileged playboys could use the service, it was June and Jaxon who needed it.

Fortunately for the unlucky Jaxon, the Plant-type Super was there. The healer managed to stop the bleeding, finally preventing him from bleeding out.

The two were hurried to the hospital for full examinations and treatment. June didn’t have any major injuries; she mostly just collapsed from exhaustion. Jaxon’s condition, however, was much more severe. He was wheeled straight into the resuscitation room.

Josie Quinn’s two stabs had been precise and lethal. She hadn’t left him an inch of mercy. If her primary goal hadn’t been siphoning his power-which required the target to be alive-and if that Plant-type Super hadn’t been on-site to provide immediate aid, Jaxon would

have been a dead man.

But even though his life was saved, his recovery would take a long time. More importantly, Jaxon’s superpower had been stripped away. He was now a useless man.

June abandoned him almost immediately.

He was kicked out of the luxury ward and moved to a general room. Shortly after, because he could no longer pay the Credits for his stay, he was forcibly discharged. He eventually spiraled down to the bottom of the social ladder, living a life of hunger and cold in the

slums.

But that was a story for another time.

When June returned to the Summit villa, she locked herself in her room. Her face twisted with rage as she smashed everything in sight. She still had to maintain her image as a gentle, victimized lady to the outside world, so she could only vent her madness behind closed doors. The servants in the villa knew better than to breathe a word of it.

Sylvia Sutton pushed the door open and took in the wreckage. She knew that what happened today had pushed June to the edge.

‘June, don’t be like this! we’ll think of something!” Sylvia tried to comfort her. “You’ve awakened once and twice, then a third time. You can definitely awaken a fourth!”

“Mom, what kind of nonsense are you talking?” June’s voice was shrill and desperate. “I’ve awakened three times, and every single time, Josie Quinn stole it! My space, all those supplies we hoarded before the apocalypse-they’re all Josie’s now! My Plant-type power, the one I spent every day healing people to level up? She took it with barely a gesture!”

“And this Aquatic power! You saw how much effort I put into it! You saw how much I suffered to get it to Tier–6

“It’s gone! All of it! She stole everything!”

“She stole my life, she stole my future, and she stole my powers!”

“It’s not fair! I hate her so much!”
