Chapter 503.

Zane Shaw let out a cold snort and sent a bolt of lightning flying toward them.

*Boom!*

In an instant, the intruders’ hair was blasted into a scorched, frizzy mess.

It was a minor warning. If Zane had used his full strength, they would have been reduced to ash.

“Listen up. This mountain has an owner now,” Zane declared. “We aren’t from The Peaks Base or The Rivers Base. We are Quinshaw

Base!”

Zane grabbed a massive boulder from the foot of the mountain and used his lightning to carve four characters into it: “Quinshaw Bas “See that?” Zane said. “Be respectful when you pass by. Our Chief doesn’t have a very good temper!”

“You… you people…” Seeing they were no match for Zane, the intruders could only sputter with rage. “Fine! Just you wait! I want to se if you outsiders can actually survive here in Sierra City! I’m warning you-we’re locals, and the Official Base is the biggest power here Don’t come crawling to us for help later!”

“Bye, don’t let the door hit you on the way out! And remember, don’t just wander around the foot of the mountain. If you get hurt, we won’t be responsible for your medical bills!” Zane stood with one hand on his hip, waving them off with the other. “Make sure to take the news back. Let everyone in your base know!”

“Hmph!” The group stomped off in a fury.

“Let’s head back,” Zane told his men. “It won’t be long before everyone knows that Sierra City’s three-way power struggle has become four-way war for dominance!”

Once back at the base, Zane gave Josie Quinn a brief report. Josie nodded. “Alright. The old rules apply: let’s eat first. After dinner, we have a meeting to discuss the intelligence we’ve gathered.”

Everyone took their seats as pots of food were slammed onto the tables.

It was buffet style-everyone grabbed what they wanted and sat down to dig in. Josie took the first bite, and only then did the others follow suit.

In less than half an hour, the food had vanished like a whirlwind. Their core principle had always been zero waste. In this world, food was more precious than gold; no one could bear to waste a single grain.

Once they were full, Josie had the tables cleared and officially opened the meeting.

Winnie Lane and the children served tea to everyone, then they sat quietly in the corner to listen.

“I’ll start with what I found,” Josie began. “The Official Base is basically a feudal kingdom. It is entirely Malcolm Monroe’s one-man show. His orders are the law.”

“Malcolm is a career-driven man, but he’s also a love-blind person. His first love is my stepmother, Sylvia Sutton.”

“So, Sylvia and June Quinn have become the base’s biggest stars. My stepsister has now transformed into the Base Commander’s stepdaughter.”

“On her way to Sierra City, she even picked up a boyfriend-a Tier-6 Super with a Devouring Superpower.”

“But don’t worry. Their superpowers are gone,” Josie continued calmly. “I took them. It’s time I’m honest with all of you.”

“The truth is, my superpower isn’t just Metallic, Spatial, or Plant-type. It’s Siphoning.”

Josie raised her hand, manifesting five different types of energy in turn.

“I can siphon any superpower and make it my own,” Josie said, her lips curling into a slight smirk. “Most of the powers I have were stolen from June Quinn.”

“If you think I’m a monster, you’re free to leave.”

Zane immediately asked, “How many powers can you siphon in total? If you need it, my lightning power is yours!”

Hudson Knox chimed in. “My aquatic power too! I believe in you, Josie! Your abilities serve a much greater purpose in your hands than they ever could in mine!”

The others nodded in agreement, their faces full of support. Not a single person looked at Josie with suspicion or fear.

This reaction warmed Josie’s heart. She hadn’t protected them in vain.

“There’s no need. I have enough powers for now,” Josie said. “Currently, my Spatial, Metallic, Plant-type, Aquatic, and Devouring powers are all at Tier-6. My next task is to upgrade them all to Tier-7.”

“That’s the first thing. The second thing: I’m not optimistic about the Official Base. I don’t like Malcolm’s style of leadership. Therefore I don’t recommend we merge with them.”

“If I go into that base, I’ll be targeted and suppressed, and you’ll all be dragged down with me.”

“June and I are destined enemies. I also just siphoned her powers; she won’t rest until I’m dead.”

Kira Sinclair was the first to speak up. “I’m not going to the base. I don’t trust outsiders; I only trust you.”

Winnie Lane nodded along. “Me too! I’m sticking with Boss Josie!”

“And that goes double for us!” Zane said. “I was never exactly a saint to begin with!”

The experts from the Agri-Science Institute laughed. “We’re definitely not going. We’re just a bunch of old men and women-they’d just look down on us anyway!”

“Excellent. It seems we’re all in agreement. We’ll put down roots here!”
