Chapter 504.

Josie turned to Zane. “Now, tell us what you found on your end.”

Zane opened his notebook. “I split off from the others. I went to The Peaks Base.”

“The Peaks Base is located on a relatively flat plain. Their primary responsibility is agriculture. Almost everyone in that base is involved in farming.”

“Whether it’s vegetables, grain, or fruit, they grow it all.”

“I did some poking around. They had stockpiled some soil that wasn’t contaminated by the power rain, but the quantity isn’t large.”

“Most of the soil they use now has been slightly invaded by the rain, but the contamination isn’t too severe. Crops grown in this soil

have a chance of mutating, though the probability is relatively low.”

“They use a system of responsibility fields. Each person is in charge of a plot. If a mutant plant appears in their contracted field, they have to clear it immediately. If they can’t handle it, they have to report it so a Special Task Force can come and clear it.”

“It’s a crude but effective method. They’ve managed to grow a large amount of grain, vegetables, and fruit.”

“Most of that produce is supplied to the Official Base.”

“In other words, Sierra City isn’t exactly short on food right now. With fewer than seven million people across all the bases, feeding them isn’t actually that difficult.”

“However, there is a major problem facing The Peaks Base right now that needs to be solved urgently.”
