Josie Quinn arched an eyebrow. “A love-blind person? Count me out! I don’t want people like that in my squad!”

For those focused on building an empire, a “love-blind person” was the ultimate headache. There was no telling when their brain would short-circuit and they’d go running off after some man, abandoning their career, their grand strategies, and their entire future without a second thought.

Josie didn’t understand it.

It was just a man. There were plenty of men in the world-why did it have to be ‘that’ specific one?

And this Nadia Neville had already survived the betrayal of one man. How could she still be so trusting? She had spent so much energy and used all her connections to push Malcolm Monroe into the position of Base Commander at the Official Base, and what happened?

The man didn’t even acknowledge her. Instead, he immediately installed his first love as the “Madam” of the base.

Talk about the regret of helping your man rise to the top only to be replaced.

Nadia had to be absolutely livid right now.

“Let’s move on. Tell me about the management of the other bases,” Josie said, moving past the gossip. “What’s their combat strength

like?”

“The combat power of The Peaks Base is average-very average,” Zane Shaw reported. “Their main fighting force is only about a hundred thousand. The rest are technical personnel focused on agriculture.”

“Their combat teams are mostly Tier-4 or Tier-5. The entire base only has two Tier-6 Supers: the Base Commander herself and a specialist dedicated to clearing the mutant plants that pop up in their fields.”

“Since their combat power is lacking, they can’t clear the mutant plants effectively without him.”

“If a war broke out, there would be no suspense. The Peaks Base is no match for the Official Base. The numbers just aren’t comparable.”

Josie nodded. “That explains why Malcolm is so arrogant. He doesn’t give a damn whether Nadia is angry or not.”

“Exactly. In an era where strength is everything, if your fists are soft, you don’t get a seat at the table,” Zane replied. “Their population structure is relatively healthy-mostly young and middle-aged people. Very few elderly and not many children. That’s the reality of the apocalypse across the board, not just their base.”

“I see.” Josie turned to the others. “Now, tell me about The Rivers Base.”

Hudson Knox stood up and handed a file to Josie. “Ours is much simpler. No soap opera drama there. The Rivers Base is like us, located on the mountainside. They have a population of about six hundred thousand, primarily focused on animal husbandry and livestock.”

“Because that area is a series of interconnected mountains with lush vegetation, it’s perfect for raising animals.”

“The Base Commander is Felix Fletcher, male, thirty-six years old. He’s strong and healthy, a Tier-5 Terrestrial Super.”

“He’s particularly skilled in construction and infrastructure. As a result, The Rivers Base is built like a fortress. They keep all kinds of poultry and livestock inside.”

Josie asked, “No mutant animals?”

“None. Or rather, if there are any, they don’t dare hang around. They don’t just raise animals there-they butcher them! Any sentient animal would be terrified to the core seeing such a sight. Who would stay?” Hudson laughed. “I didn’t go into the slaughterhouse itself, but I saw the layout from a distance. They have assembly lines ready to go. Even if a mutant animal shows up, it’s just getting added to

the menu.”
