Chapter 518.

“But both you and Sylvia are equally important to me. I don’t want to give either of you up.”

“I’m the most powerful man in Sierra City. I just want to have both of you. Is that so much to ask?”

Nadia laughed so hard she nearly choked. “Malcolm, who do you think you are? You want two wives sharing one husband? Do you think you’re worthy? I’m a queen in my own right; why would I step down to join your harem? Is there something wrong with your brain?”

“I’m not asking you to join a harem. I’m saying that even if you reject me, there will always be a place in my heart reserved just for you,” Malcolm argued, continuing his pathetic defense.

“Fine. Go find Sylvia and say exactly what you just told me to her face,” Nadia said. “If she doesn’t mind, then I’ll allow you to keep a spot for me in your heart.”

Malcolm went silent again.

Nadia saw through him completely.

Men.

What a joke.

Her luck was truly terrible. She had never met a single decent man in her life.

Look at young Josie Quinn-she had already seen through human nature at such a young age.

Why bother with romance? Just focus on the career!

“I know why you’re here,” Nadia said, changing the subject. “I just made a deal with the people from Quinshaw Base. I don’t mind telling you the details. They don’t sell people and they don’t sell soil, but they sell products. Seeds, pesticides, and fertilizer are all on the table. They also sell seafood and crops that we don’t have here.”

“Everything else is off-limits. Oh, and they only accept Undead Cores. They don’t want our base Credits.”

“She also asked me to pass a message to you. The Power Rain is not for sale. No matter how much you offer, they won’t sell a single drop! So you can give up on that dream right now.”

“Furthermore, she’s a five-power Super now, and her Metallic superpower is already at Tier-7. You are not her match. You’d better stop thinking about trying to rob her-you won’t succeed. Her base is already built like a fortress.”

“Nadia,” Malcolm spoke up,”do you even know what that Power Rain is?”

“What is it?” Nadia asked. “You know?”

“Supposedly, it’s the rain that triggered the evolution of the Undead and the awakening of the Mutants. Josie stored that rain in advance. That water has to be collected before it hits the ground and preserved properly.”

“Once it touches the earth or other water, it gets diluted and absorbed.”

“But that water can allow ordinary Norms to trigger a second or even a third awakening!”

“While there are risks-like turning into an Undead-who wouldn’t want to take that gamble?”

“Both of our bases have plenty of Norms. They all want another chance!”

“If we can buy that Power Rain, the number of Supers in Sierra City could increase significantly. We would have a much better chance

at fighting off the Undead and Mutants.”

“I’m not just thinking about myself; I’m thinking about you too!”

“Your Peaks Base is the weakest of the three major bases.”

“Even if I don’t do anything to you, can you guarantee that The Rivers Base won’t try to swallow you up?”

“And now we have the people from Quinshaw Base stirring the pot. Don’t you want to increase your strength as quickly as possible?”

“I don’t have any ulterior motives. I’m just worried about you! Even if we can’t be together, I still want you to be safe and thrive alongside me for a long time.”
