“Even though Felix hasn’t said anything yet, I’ve managed to dig up some information.”

“Something massive is happening to our world!”

Josie’s palms tightened.“Is there going to be an earthquake? A volcanic eruption?”

“Oh, no, nothing like that,” Nadia replied.“Not. quite that drastic.”

Josie let out a breath of relief.

However, before her heart could fully settle, it was yanked back up by Nadia’s next sentence.

“Haven’t you felt that something is wrong with our planet?” Nadia lowered her voice.“As people in agriculture, we have the most direct intuition about it.”

“In the past, we could only grow two seasons of rice a year. Now, we can grow three.”

“Do you know what that means?”

“Our time has stretched. A day is no longer twenty–four hours long!”

Josie’s calm expression shifted instantly!

She recalled the people from the Agri–Science Institute mentioning that the planting patterns after the apocalypse seemed to have changed. She had always assumed it was a matter of soil or environment; she hadn’t considered the flow of time!

“You know how it is–it’s the apocalypse. The satellites in the sky have failed,” Nadia continued. “We’re all using the most primitive methods to keep time now.”

Josie nodded.“We are, too.”

Ever since the world ended, the satellites hadn’t been working right. No one knew exactly why. Theoretically, once a satellite was successfully launched, it should keep working silently on its own. Unless there was a malfunction requiring human intervention, they should have been fine. But now, they were simply failing.

“So, I have this gut feeling that something is about to happen to humanity! Maybe Felix discovered some evidence, which is why he called us all here,” Nadia whispered. “If it really is something massive, it’s going to be catastrophic. Chief Quinn, you’ll have to help us out when the time comes!”

“We’ll see.” Josie didn’t commit one way or the other. She would wait until the facts were on the table.

As they were talking, the people from the Official Base arrived.

Malcolm Monroe didn’t bring a plus–one, only his trusted inner circle. Malcolm wasn’t stupid; he wouldn’t bring Sylvia Sutton here to rub salt in Nadia’s wounds.

With that, the leaders of the four powers officially met.

The Third–Day Blessing Rite for the baby wasn’t overly grand. After a simple ceremony, everyone sat down for drinks and conversation.

The four leaders gathered in a private room, and the conversation finally turned to serious business.

As a man who spent his life in livestock and slaughter, Felix Fletcher wasn’t the refined or soft–spoken type. He went straight to the point.“Thank you all for coming to my humble home for my son’s blessing. Although I haven’t been in much contact with you lately, we are all part of Sierra City.”

“To put it bluntly, we are all in the human camp.”

“In the future, we’ll be living and dying together!”

“Just say it and stop beating around the bush!” Nadia cut him off.“I don’t want to hear useless nonsense!”

Josie nodded. “Me neither.”
