Chapter 555.
As she drank, June Quinn felt her head begin to spin.
Sylvia Sutton noticed her daughter’s pale face, but Malcolm Monroe kept winking at her, signaling that they should head to the
bedroom for some adult business.
Sylvia was immediately intrigued by the idea.
She didn’t bother to check if June was actually drunk or if something else was wrong. She simply turned to a nearby maid and said, “June has had too much to drink. Help her to her room so she can rest.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the maid replied. She expertly helped June up, stealing a quick glance at Malcolm.
Malcolm gave a barely perceptible nod.
Just like that, right under Sylvia’s nose, June was led away.
“Sylvia, it’s been a few days since we….” Malcolm whispered affectionately, acting as if he couldn’t wait to be alone with her. “Give me a
son.”
“Oh, stop! What if it’s a girl?” Sylvia’s heart was melting with joy.
“I’d love her just the same,” Malcolm replied with a smile.”As long as it’s yours, I’ll love any child we have!”
Coaxed by his sweet words, Sylvia followed him into the bedroom to begin their baby-making efforts.
She had no idea that her daughter had already been shoved into a black car and driven straight to The Pit.
“Water… give me water…” June muttered, her eyes still closed. Out of habit, she issued orders to those around her with her usual arrogance. “Hurry up! I’m thirsty!”
The silence around her was deathly.
June suddenly felt that something was wrong.
She snapped her eyes open.
Instead of her luxuriously decorated, exquisite room, she saw rough concrete walls and a stained ceiling.
What was this place?
Where was she?
Even the servants at The Summit Villa lived in better conditions than this!
June tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness hit her, and her vision blurred.
She squeezed her eyes shut.
It’s an illusion. It has to be.
How could she be staying in such a dump? Even in her most difficult times, she had never lived in a place this raw.
But no matter how much she blinked or rubbed her eyes, the dull, gray roof and peeling walls remained. This wasn’t a hallucination; it was real.
