Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 559

< Chapter 559

Chapter 559.

Just as Josie Quinn was accepting the Undead Cores from Julian Finch, both the human and the Undead turned their heads toward the

east at the same time.

An ox was trotting toward them.

The ox looked at Josie and Julian, gave them a slight nod, and then tossed a roll of cloth from its back. It let out a string of strange, guttural sounds, pawed at the ground with its front hoof, and then retreated about ten yards before kneeling

A Mutant Ox!

“What’s this supposed to mean?” Julian asked, looking completely baffled. “Is it… bowing to us?”

“Yeah,” Josie replied.”I think it’s here to deliver a message.”

As she spoke, Josie used a vine to snatch the cloth and pull it toward her. She unrolled it right in front of the Mutant Ox.

Julian was dying of curiosity and craned his neck to get a look.

The cloth was covered in a series of strange symbols. They were incomprehensible. Totally unreadable.

“What is this?” Julian’s eyes were practically spinning. “Josie, maybe we should standardize the written language with them? Didn’t the first emperor do that? One script, one road gauge! Since they’ve got their own civilization now, let’s just skip the middleman and make them write in the common script!”

“You sure have a lot of big ideas,” Josie said. She rolled the cloth back up and beckoned to the ox.”Come here. Let’s talk.”

The ox didn’t understand her words, but it understood the gesture. It stood up slowly and trotted over to stand in front of Josie.

Josie reached up and flicked Ivy. The sentient wisteria immediately extended a thin tendril, touching the ox’s hide. Instantly, the voice of the Ox Envoy echoed in Josie’s mind: “Greetings, leader of the humans. I am a messenger from the Mutant Animal Kingdom. I am here to deliver a letter from my King.”

Josie nodded. “How do you know I’m the leader of the humans?”

“You are the strongest among them,” the ox replied. “In our world, the strongest always leads.”

“I received the message, but I can’t read your script,” Josie said.”Just tell me what you want.”

The ox nodded.”Currently, this region is divided between four powers: humans, the Undead, Mutant Fauna, and Mutant Flora. My King believes it is time to redraw the boundaries and divide the territory fairly…”

Josie cut it off with a wave of her hand. “Territory? Boundaries? None of that matters right now. In six months, let alone territory, Earth itself might be gone. I’m guessing your civilization hasn’t evolved enough to know what a planet is, let alone an interstellar civilization.” “I’m giving you a sack of books. Take them back. Every member of the Mutant Fauna needs to learn our language.”

“I hope that the next time we meet, every one of you can communicate with me in our language. I’m tired of using telepathy for every conversation; it’s exhausting!”

To make sure you understand me clearly: the world we live in is about to face a massive crisis. We’re all going to die. Any territory you claim will be turned to ash in an instant.”

“Take that message back to your King.”

“If you have any questions, read the books!”

“If you still don’t understand, it means you’re evolving too slowly and you’re too weak. You won’t have the right to sit at a table and talk

to me.”

“Got it? Good.”
