Chapter 566.
“But Malcolm came from the bottom. Most of what he’s seen and experienced was darkness. You were born into the light, surrounded by wealth and comfort since childhood. The two of you are completely incompatible.”
Malcolm only saw you as a ladder to climb. You saw him as a partner and expected to marry him.’
“It has nothing to do with age. It’s about your soul.”
Nadia remained silent for a long time. Finally, she whispered, “You’re right.”
Josie slammed on the brakes and smiled. “But it’s fine. Regardless of the era, the only people who have the luxury to fall in love are the ones living well. Do you still have any expectations for Malcolm?”
“How could I?” Nadia rolled her eyes hard.”The moment he betrayed me, I cut ties with him completely! I’m not a garbage collector. Once man is categorized as garbage, he’d better stay out of my sight for the rest of his life!”
“Good,” Josie said.”I heard Malcolm and Sylvia Sutton are getting married soon.”
“Married?” Nadia paused, then gave a graceful, carefree smile. Good for them.”
Josie didn’t say anything more. She hoped Nadia had truly figured it out and wasn’t just acting out of spite.
Because she knew Malcolm had arrived at The Peaks Base.
He was waiting for Nadia right now.
She wondered what tactics Malcolm would use to try and manipulate Nadia this time.
“I’m going to the warehouse, Josie said. “Tell me what you want me to take.”
“I’ll have someone lead the way.” As Nadia finished speaking, her assistant hurried over, nodding respectfully to signal that he had something to
say.
Josie turned and walked away without hesitation, showing zero interest in their private conversation.
Once Josie was gone, the assistant whispered to Nadia, Chief Neville, Malcolm Monroe is here. He’s waiting for you in your study.”
Nadia’s heart skipped a beat. She looked toward Josie’s retreating back, then pulled her gaze away.
She seemed to understand the meaning behind Josie’s words now.
“I’ll go see him.” Nadia turned toward the study.”Go and accompany Josie. Make sure she takes everything in the warehouse that’s already been packed.”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Nadia pushed open the door to the study. She saw Malcolm sitting in her chair, looking at a framed photo of the two of them.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with your new wife?” Nadia didn’t even notice the faint trace of bitterness in her voice.
Malcolm heard it.
He set the photo down and looked at Nadia with a smile. “Jealous?”
“Hah! I wouldn’t dare. I’m in no position for that.” Nadia sat on the sofa, crossing her legs. “Your people were outside my base earlier trying to kidnap my workers. I know you know about it. So, what kind of show are you planning to put on now?”
Malcolm sighed and stood up. He walked over and sat beside Nadia, reaching out to take her hand. “Nadia, I thought you’d understand my heart. I’m not trying to swallow The Peaks Base; I’m just trying to protect you. You think Josie Quinn is a good person? She’s young and incredibly ambitious. Yes, she’s strong-but it’s because she’s so strong that we have to be on our guard.”
