The inside of the warehouse was staggering.

If June was a hoarder, Victor Wallace was a god of excess.

Mountains of supplies stretched all the way to the thirtyfoot ceiling. Highgrade tactical gear, militarygrade rations, gasoline drums, medical supplieseverything needed to survive the end of the world, stacked in perfect, untouched rows.

Josie raised her hand, her palm glowing with a faint, greedy light. It was her first time using the Spatial Vault she had ripped from June, but it didn’t feel foreign at all. It felt smooth. Natural. Like it had always belonged to her.

That was the terrifying beauty of the Siphon ability. It was absolute.

Store, she commanded.

Whoosh.

A mountain of supplies vanished, sucked into the void of her mind in the blink of an eye.

The warehouse went from bursting at the seams to bonedry in seconds.

osie lowered her hand, a wicked thrill coiling in her chest. Good luck bouncing back from this one, June. You’re completely screwed.

With the job done, Josie turned and melted back into the shadows. She didn’t spare the empty warehouse a second glance.

She still had an appointment to keep with her loving father and stepmother.

By the time Josie made it back to the Quinn house, it was 5:00 AM.

The sky was a bruised, dark purple. Arthur and Sylvia were still fast asleep in the master bedroom, completely dead to the world.

osie ghosted into their room.

She didn’t need their powers. Super Strength and Super Speed were decent for the early apocalypse, but they weren’t worth the Siphon cooldown.

Still, there was absolutely no way in hell she was letting them keep those advantages.

Super Strength? Super Speed? It didn’t matter. Both powers required a solid foundation. They required balance.

Take away the legs, and those powers became completely useless. Let’s see how fast you run now, Sylvia.

osie pulled the Legendary Blade from her spatial storage. The heavy, dark steel drank the moonlight, humming with lethal intent.

She stood over the bed, looking down at the two people who had sold her like a piece of meat in her past life.

She raised the blade high.

SQUELCH.

She swung hard. The tempered steel sheared through skin, muscle, and bone with sickening ease.

Four legs. Severed just above the knee. In a single, brutal strike.

Blood erupted like a geyser, instantly soaking the pristine white sheets in a thick, dark crimson.

osie didn’t blink. She grabbed a spare bedsheet, rolled the four severed limbs into a bloody bundle, and walked to the window. Without a second of hesitation, she tossed the bundle straight into the dumpster three stories below.

A pack of starving stray dogs swarmed it instantly. In seconds, the meat was chewed to shredscompletely unrecognizable.

Even the best surgeon in the world couldn’t reattach them now.

AAAAAUGH!

FCK! NO!

The shock finally hit their brains. Arthur and Sylvia bolted upright, shrieking in pure, unadulterated agony.

Josie! Have you lost your fcking mind?!Arthur roared, his face twisted in horror as he stared at the bloody stumps where his legs used to be

My legs! My fcking legs!Sylvia shricked, her voice reaching a glassshattering pitch. She clawed frantically at the ruined mattress. Give them back! Give me back my legs!

Josie, you heartless monster! You animal!Sylvia sobbed, the mask of the kind stepmother finally shattering. Her eyes bulged with pure, rabid hate. Til destroy you! I’ll make you wish you were never born!

Tll make you pay. Sylvia snapped, spitting blood and saliva. You still don’t get it, do you? June isn’t your stepsister. She’s your biological sister! Arthur and I were together long before your mother came along!

Sylvia’s face twisted into a grotesque, triumphant sneer. Your mother didn’t just die of an illnesswe broke her! We told her the truth and watched the life drain out of her eyes. We literally drove that bich to her grave!

The room went dead silent. Only the heavy, ragged breathing of the bleeding couple remained. They waited for Josie to break. They wanted to see her scream, cry, and crumble under the weight of the betrayal.

Instead, a low chuckle slipped from Josie’s lips.
