Meanwhile, in the bedroom.
The heavy curtains blocked out almost all the light, leaving just a few gentle rays slipping through. The clock on the wall said it was already ten thirty.
On the messy bed, something finally shifted.
Emmy stirred.
The moment she came to, a deep, aching soreness swept over her. Her lower back felt like it had been snapped and put back together again. Her legs were so weak she couldn’t get them to move at all.
“Awake?”
A low, rough voice sounded from above her, lazy with sleep and laced with that satisfied, morning-after kind of intimacy.
Emmy’s memories rushed back all at once. Everything that happened last night flashed through her mind, wild and unfiltered, making her cheeks burn. She could barely stand to remember it, and yet she couldn’t stop.
To make things worse, she realized she was draped on top of him, clinging to his chest like an octopus. They were still tangled up, bodies pressed close.
Emmy felt her face go up in flames.
James must have noticed the sudden heat, because he looked down at her, amusement sparkling in his eyes. He ran a big hand down her bare back, slow and gentle, his voice husky and teasing.
“Want to go again? I’m just worried you can’t handle it.”
Emmy’s mind short-circuited. How could he say something like that so early in the morning?
Emmy’s face heated up even more. She buried herself under the pillow, mortified but also secretly amazed. How did he still have so much energy? He’d been relentless all night, yet now he looked like he could run a marathon. Meanwhile, she felt like she’d been steamrolled.
James’s deep voice came from behind her again.
“Just rest. I’ll tidy the bathroom before you get up.”
Emmy mumbled an agreement, face pressed deep into the pillow. Did he have to mention the bathroom? Memories of last night crashed over her again—how they’d gone from the sofa to the bed, then from the bed to the bathroom, and even ended up on the marble counter… The things she’d seen in the mirror still made her blush.
It was crazy. In all her life, even in her past life, she’d never been so wild. But somehow, even though her body was completely worn out and everything they’d done had been so reckless, she’d never felt so satisfied or at peace. It was like she’d finally found her safe harbor, after drifting for so long.
That feeling of being loved, claimed, and completely filled up… it was addictive.

What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
