Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1042

The shares she actually owned amounted to just four percent. The remaining six percent… Her eyes slid down to the notes section, and for a moment, her heart stopped.

There it was, clear as day.

Trustee: Emmy.

Beneficiaries: Emmy’s son (pending), Emmy’s daughter (pending).

Benefit share: three percent each.

Two signatures were at the bottom. One was hers. The other belonged to the late Mrs. Nelson, Haitang.

Emmy stared, stunned. Mrs. Nelson had transferred these shares to her, even leaving a path for Emmy’s future children. But… Her gaze lingered on the word “pending.” That tiny flicker of hope in her chest faded away again. If she’d ever had a child, there wouldn’t be a “pending” at all. Still, she couldn’t help feeling a strange, stubborn hope, tangled up with emotions she couldn’t quite name or get rid of. She couldn’t figure it out, and honestly, she was too scared to try. Emmy closed the folder and set it aside.

She turned, only to meet Martha’s sharp, calculating eyes. Martha leaned in, fanning herself, and the scent of sandalwood filled the air.

“Still looking at those little shares?” Martha’s smile was gentle, but her voice was low, meant only for Emmy. “Don’t stress yourself out, dear. According to Nelson Corporation’s rules, you get three votes. I know you’ll back James, right?”

Martha’s eyes flicked over at James before coming back to Emmy. “Don’t worry. Even if he’s out, you’ll still be a major shareholder here. As long as you stand with me, nothing’s going to bring this company down.”

It was an obvious offer. If both brothers got pushed out today, Martha’s shares would give her real power, and she wanted Emmy as her ally for the final stretch.

Emmy almost laughed, but her face stayed perfectly calm. She was just about to say something, when Mr. Nelson stepped in, his voice cutting through the tension.

“Jamie, have you lost your mind? Emmy disappeared for a whole year, and James nearly tore the world apart looking for her. If you’d really seen her in Fiji, why didn’t you say anything?” Martha was determined to keep Emmy on her side, and she wasn’t about to let anyone mess things up now. She lowered her voice, her tone serious. “You know how James is. If he finds out you saw Emmy and kept it to yourself, do you really think he’ll just let it go? And if Tyler hears about it and decides to come after you, how many lashes do you think you could take?”

Mr. Nelson’s face twisted with anger. He squeezed the walnuts in his hand until they creaked.

Emmy saw her chance and played along, smiling softly. “Exactly, Brian. You’re getting older. It’s normal to forget things. Did we really meet in Fiji?”

She held his gaze, not backing down. Mr. Nelson squinted at her, then looked at Martha, who was still smiling but clearly on Emmy’s side. Finally, his eyes landed on James, sitting across the table, icy cold and silent. James gripped a pen, tapping it hard against the table, over and over. The silent threat was impossible to ignore, sending a chill down Mr. Nelson’s spine.

But what scared him most was Tyler’s influence these days.

He had no choice but to swallow his anger and mutter, “Looks like I was mistaken.”
