Penny’s eyes went wide. She dropped everything in her hands and rushed forward. Just then, out of nowhere, a pale, slender hand reached in and caught the heavy box before it could fall. The man calmly pushed the box back onto the top shelf, standing on his toes to get it in place. His voice was low and pleasant. “You’ve got to be careful with shelves this high. If something that heavy fell and hit someone, it could be deadly.”
Emmy’s heart was still pounding as she tried to steady her breathing. She turned around, finally finding her voice. “Thank you. That was really dangerous. If you hadn’t…” Her words faded when she met his eyes. She froze. His eyes were so dark and deep, the corners tilted up just a bit, making him look effortlessly cool, but there was a warmth in his smile that seemed almost practiced.
Something about him felt familiar, so much so that Emmy felt her blood run cold. But when she got a good look at his face, the feeling vanished. She had never seen him before. He had classic Western features, striking and sharp, a high nose, and skin that looked almost too pale.
“Miss?” he asked, tilting his head with an easy smile, his eyes twinkling. “Did I scare you that badly?”
Emmy snapped out of her trance. “Sorry, I just… you startled me.” She took a careful step back, putting some polite distance between them, and gave a small nod. “Thank you for helping me.”
His smile stayed gentle, totally harmless. “It was no trouble at all.” He looked at her a moment longer. “Are you a student here?”
Emmy frowned a little. His eyes were soft, but she felt uneasy, like something inside her wanted to run. “Yeah,” she answered quickly, trying to end the conversation. “Sorry, I’m in a hurry. I need to check out.”
She grabbed the nearest toy and made her way to the register. There was a line, so she had to stop. The man followed her, moving at an easy pace, holding a stuffed animal now.
Penny, arms full of bags, caught up with her right away. “Ma’am, was there something weird about that guy?”
Emmy didn’t answer. She glanced back. The man was still standing at the entrance of the toy store, one hand in his coat pocket, still smiling gently at her. When he noticed her looking, he lifted his hand and gave her a small wave.
Emmy turned away fast. “Let’s talk in the car.”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
