For a moment, the line went completely silent. John was clearly blindsided by how possessive that just sounded. After a pause, he finally came back, his voice awkward through the receiver. “Ahem... well, Emmy. The PhD track is going to be intense. You really need to stay focused and not let anyone throw you off your goals.” Anyone, huh? It was obvious who he meant. Emmy opened her mouth, ready to explain, but the man behind her was having none of it. He cut in, his tone lazy but ice cold. “That's not something you need to worry about, Mr. Davis. We're on a tight schedule here, and we've got business to take care of. Hanging up now.” He ended the call with a swipe, tossing the phone back onto the nightstand like it was nothing.
Emmy just stared at him, lost for words. She turned toward him, her brows furrowing as she took in his smug, handsome face right up close. “Why are you so rude to my supervisor? He called with good news because he cares about how I’m doing academically.” James didn’t look the least bit sorry. He just gave a low grunt, squeezing her waist, his voice tinged with jealousy. “He calls once and you’re packing for Boston. The only reason I didn’t hang up on him right away was because of you.”
With a sigh, Emmy leaned back into his arms. “Even if he hadn’t called, I’d still fly out the second I got the acceptance email. This is my future, not some trip for fun.” James pressed his lips together, silent. He knew she was right, but that didn’t mean he liked it. Letting her go made sense, but it still stung.
When he didn’t answer, Emmy shifted so she was lying on his chest, her eyes bright. “Actually, there’s something I haven’t told you yet.” James glanced down at her. “What’s that?” She grinned, leaning closer. “I’m planning to recruit all the senior researchers from John’s lab to Janus Sphere Technologies.” James’s eyebrows lifted, but Emmy was on a roll now, her excitement growing.
“The projects they’re working on? Huge potential. Especially their neural algorithm for brain-computer interfaces. That’s exactly what Janus Sphere is missing right now. If I can get them to join us, they’ll be a game changer. I really think they could help us take over the global AI industry. Just imagine, all those geniuses working for us. It's practically world domination.”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
