A girl in black-rimmed glasses spoke softly. “Lin, it’s not about the offer.”
A guy next to her gave a wry smile. “Yeah, Lin. We really respect your talent, and we do believe Janus Sphere Technologies has a future.”
“But… Janus Sphere hasn’t even been around a year yet. The first real product isn’t even out,” he added, pausing, his tone blunt and honest. “We’re almost thirty. We’re not John. He’s a genius, he’s young, plus his family’s loaded. He can take risks.”
“Joining Janus Sphere now… it’s a total gamble. Sure, it’d be amazing if it works out, but if it fails… it could end our careers. We have to play it safe. That means picking a big company or a top hospital.”
That was just how things were. Not everyone has the guts to go all-in with a startup. Most people just want a stable life in this city.
Emmy’s fingers curled a little at her side.
“Hey! What are you even talking about?” John finally cut in, unable to hold it back, his eyes flashing with disbelief and anger. “Don’t you want to see our project actually make it?”
“This is everything we’ve worked for! Give us a little more time and money, and it could change the world! You’re seriously just going to walk away for some so-called ‘stability’?”
“You’re going to Pfizer for what? To churn out some painkillers?”
No one looked ashamed. If anything, their eyes just got more determined. The curly-haired guy who’d decided on Pfizer shook his head, sounding helpless.
“John, you’re a genius. You can chase your dreams and not look back.”
“But we know how many technical problems are left. Turning this into a real product is a bottomless pit. Even Musk’s Neuralink burned through billions and is still only doing animal tests.”
“Lin has money, and Janus Sphere has potential, but honestly, at this stage, the company just can’t take that kind of hit.”
“If the money runs out and the project dies, what happens to us?”
John glanced at Emmy, worry written all over his face. “Lin, they…”
“It’s fine,” Emmy cut him off. She wasn’t someone who couldn’t handle loss. If she couldn’t make them stay, at least she could leave things on a good note.
“You’re right. I should’ve thought it through more.” She set the gifts she brought in front of everyone. “No matter what, I’m glad we met.”
“Even though we can’t work together anymore, I couldn’t have gotten Sync2.0 this far without all of you.”
“Just take these as New Year’s gifts from me. I hope you all find success. Maybe we’ll meet again at the top.”

What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
