“He’s not.”
Emmy shook her head, a soft smile curving her lips. “But he’s really into cutting edge technology. He’s got an incredible mind for business, and his sense of strategy is… honestly, it’s impressive.”
Harlene leaned in, her curiosity practically radiating. “He sounds like one of those bossy CEOs in dramas. So, how did you two meet? You know I’m a sucker for a good love story.”
Even John, who’d been staring out the window, turned his head to listen.
At the mention of her husband, Emmy’s smile faded just a bit. “You probably won’t believe this.”
“I’m missing a chunk of my memory. There was a whole year where a lot happened between us, but… I just forgot him.”
She paused, her voice quiet. “Honestly, the biggest reason I’ve been working so hard at neuroscience these last six months is selfish. I want those memories back.”
Harlene’s face shifted from playful to genuinely concerned. “Wait, you mean you have amnesia? Is it medical? Or did something happen?”
John had heard a little about this before, but it was all news to Harlene. She’d always thought Emmy was some kind of flawless genius. She never imagined she was carrying something like this.
Emmy didn’t try to hide it. Harlene was a top expert in this field. If anyone could offer advice, it’d be her.
“It wasn’t an accident,” Emmy said, her fingers curling in her lap. “Someone injected me with a drug that blocks memories. It messed with the neural circuits in my hippocampus. Now, there are certain people, certain events… I just can’t remember them at all.”
Harlene’s hand flew to her mouth. Her eyes were wide, full of shock and sympathy. She knew exactly how cruel and dangerous that kind of interference could be. “Lin, that’s… that’s awful.”
“Could you send me your brain scans and any other reports later? Maybe I can help you figure something out.”
Emmy nodded. “Of course. I’ll organize everything for you tonight.”
John, who had been quiet all this time, finally spoke up. “If you forgot your husband, then… what’s going on between you two now?”
It was a personal question, maybe a bit too direct, but Emmy didn’t seem to mind. She answered honestly. “Even though I forgot him, he never gave up on me. He started pursuing me all over again. In his own way, he worked his way back into my life.”

What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
