Emmy’s eyebrows pulled together, just enough to show her irritation. She glanced around the room, her gaze landing in the corner. Keaton was hunched over his phone, not even trying to hide it. Of course he was the one who ratted her out.
The whole situation suddenly felt pointless. Emmy had no interest in waiting around anymore.
She stood and headed for the door, her steps quiet but determined. Keaton, who had clearly been keeping an eye on her, scrambled to catch up.
“Mrs. Nelson, where are you going? Mr. Nelson’s almost here. He’s already in the elevator.”
Emmy didn’t answer. She reached for the handle and pulled the door open.
Right then, the elevator at the end of the hallway chimed. The doors slid open and James stepped out, tall and imposing in a sharp black suit that made his presence impossible to ignore. His face was all hard lines and tension, his jaw clenched tight.
Mercedes followed, heels clicking on the tile. Somehow, in under half an hour, she’d changed outfits. Now she wore a lilac dress that hugged her curves, softer and more delicate than what she’d had on in the lounge.
Watching them walk in, one after the other, Emmy couldn’t help but notice how perfectly matched they looked.
Her hand tightened on the doorknob, fingers going white. Something heavy slammed into her chest, leaving a dull ache that quickly turned sharp and bitter.
She took a shaky breath, then turned away and walked in the opposite direction, heading back to her own room. Not even for a second did she want to stay. The last thing she wanted was to watch those two together.
“Emmy, wait. Just let me explain.”
James spotted her immediately as he stepped out of the elevator. Seeing Emmy turn away, he felt a jolt of panic. He closed the distance in a few quick strides, catching her wrist and pulling her into his arms.
Emmy bumped into his solid chest. His familiar, cool scent surrounded her, but underneath it was something else. A hint of sweet perfume that didn’t belong to him.
Mercedes’s scent.
Emmy’s stomach twisted. She tried to pull away, her voice low and tight.
“Let go of me.”
“James, I mean it. Let go.”
They weren’t alone in the hallway. Harlene and John hadn’t returned to their rooms. They stood nearby, watching everything unfold. John made a move to step forward, but Harlene grabbed his arm and held him back.

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
