Emmy kept her silence. She knew her last words had been spoken in the heat of the moment. What wife could sit by while some woman, full of ulterior motives, invited her husband to lunch right in front of her? Emmy definitely couldn’t handle that.
James watched her, his eyes locked on the cool set of her profile. She didn’t have to say anything for him to pick up on her mood. He could hear the hurt and jealousy in her voice, and it stung him. The tenseness in his face eased just a little as he leaned closer, lowering his voice so only she could hear.
“I told you before. I won’t have meals with anyone but you. I promise.”
Emmy’s eyelashes quivered, but she still wouldn’t look at him, refusing to say a word.
Across from them, Harlene was watching everything, eyes darting back and forth. In her head, she was practically whistling. She knew it. She had guessed right from the start. The way this man looked at Emmy literally radiated tenderness, adoration, and a possessiveness so desperate you couldn’t fake it. If there were problems, they were only in Emmy’s mind. This guy might look intimidating, but he was all in.
Just as Harlene was about to jump in and defuse the tension, John spoke up first.
“Mr. Nelson, the sauce on this pasta is a bit spicy.” He glanced at Emmy. “She usually can’t handle spicy food. And you finished her water. What’s she supposed to drink now?”
James turned his head slowly. The warmth he’d shown Emmy chilled into something icy as he looked at John. His eyebrow arched, his gaze landing on the half a glass of water in his hand. A smirk, cold and thin, tugged at his mouth.
“You seem to know my wife pretty well, don’t you?”
John shivered a little at that look but tried not to back down. He opened his mouth, ready to argue, but James cut him off before he could begin. His fingers idly traced the rim of his glass, his tone relaxed but leaving no room for argument.
“In the States, it’s pretty normal for husbands and wives not to keep things separate. Cups... whatever. We always share.”
There was just no way to miss what James was implying. His possessiveness was almost overwhelming.

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
