Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1301

The south side of the island, right at the edge of the cliffs.

Wild wind whipped the sea. Waves smashed against black rocks below, flinging up white spray as if the ocean itself was shouting. Emmy, barefoot, picked her way over the jagged stone, heading straight for the highest outcropping. The wind tangled her short, shoulder-length hair, but it didn’t hide the clear determination blazing in her eyes.

Behind her, Harlene’s voice rang out, full of worry. “Emmy, that’s way too high. That spot is for the pros!”

“We can try something smaller first. Ten meters, or maybe fifteen. You don’t need to go all-out right away!”

Emmy didn’t slow down. The wind swallowed some of her words, but her tone was solid. “No. Regular adrenaline rushes aren’t enough for me.”

“I need my memory back, and the only thing that might work is something really extreme. The scarier, the better. Isn’t that what you said? Maybe only real fear, like a brush with death, can shock my brain into remembering.”

She turned and tossed Harlene a little reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. The safety measures here are top-notch. There’s nothing dangerous on the sea bed, and I’ll be fine.”

She grinned. “Unless you want to come, too?”

Harlene shook her head with such force her hair practically bounced. The look on her face was pure panic.

“Nope. Nope! No way. You do it if you want, but just watching makes my skin crawl. My legs already feel like jelly.”

Emmy just laughed and kept heading for the edge.

The cliff was twenty-eight meters tall, the height of a nine-story building. Even the instructor on duty hesitated before coming over.

“Miss, the wind and waves are strong today. If you’ve never done this before, I suggest trying a lower platform first. From up here, one little mistake and it’s like slamming into concrete.”

Emmy shook her head. “I want this spot.”

She wanted something with real stakes. She wanted to feel danger, the kind that squeezed your heart until you remembered who you are and what you’ve lost. Maybe then she’d get her missing year back.

She stepped up, toes right at the edge, and looked down.

The sea was a rolling, roaring monster under her feet, dark blue and boiling with power. The sound was so loud it filled her whole body. Here, facing this wild ocean, she felt tiny, just a speck. The vertigo and rush made her whole body tingle.

She sucked in air, slow and deep, steadying her breath. Closed her eyes for half a second, then snapped them open. Her leg muscles tensed. She began to lean forward—ready to jump.

“If anything happens to her, I swear—”

Isabel shrank back, looking panicked and fake-innocent. “I...I was just worried about her...”

Harlene felt her blood boiling at Isabel’s stupidity. She ran straight to the cliff and leaned over, searching the frothing waves below. But there was no sign of Emmy.

“Emmy!”

Her voice cracked with fear. Penny’s face went white, and without a moment’s hesitation, she dove over the edge into the sea. The lifeguards nearby glanced at each other, shocked, then jumped in after her one by one, ready to save someone.

Isabel’s eyes darted nervously, but then she ran to the edge and called out, “Emmy! I’m coming to save you!”

Harlene didn’t trust her for a second. She reached out to try to grab her. “Don’t! Stay here! Don’t make it worse!”

But she was just a moment too late. Isabel took off in a clean, picture-perfect dive, disappearing into the sea.
