Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1362

A two-second silence stretched across the line before Lorelei's voice drifted back. "You two didn't use protection?"

James frowned, admitting it. "Yeah. It was an accident."

Another pause from Lorelei before she replied. "There is no such thing as a completely side-effect-free emergency contraceptive on the market right now."

James's brows locked together in a harsh scowl.

The sound of flipping papers echoed from the other end. Suddenly, Lorelei spoke again. "However, I have Emmy's medical records right here. Her cycle has always been very regular. If I am not mistaken, according to her chart, last night should have been the day right before her period started. That falls into the safe window. The chances of pregnancy are extremely low, so you do not need to panic."

Hearing this, the heavy stone sitting in James's chest lifted slightly. "That is a relief."

A second later, his tone turned dead serious, laced with an indisputable finality. "Book me an appointment. I am getting a vasectomy."

On the other end of the line, Lorelei was clearly stunned by the declaration. After several seconds of dead silence, her voice returned, ringing with disbelief. "Are you serious? Do you understand what that means? Will your superiors even approve this? Your genetics are exceptional. If you get a vasectomy, it might be incredibly difficult for you to ever have children again."

James's gaze softened as he looked out toward the adjacent balcony. The nursery was right there. His two children were inside, sleeping peacefully. He said, "I already have a beautiful son and daughter. That is more than enough for me. Emmy has her own ambitions and dreams. I will not let an accidental pregnancy waste her time or take a toll on her body."

"As for whether anyone else approves." He let out a cold, arrogant scoff. "It is my body. I will do whatever the hell I want with it."

Lorelei sighed. After a moment, she replied with reluctant acceptance. "While I admire your dedication, I still worry you are making a rash decision in the heat of the moment. Besides, my surgery schedule is completely packed today. I really do not have time to squeeze you in. Let's make it tomorrow. I will ask around for you tomorrow, and you can use this time to calm down and think it over."

James didn't push it. His mind was made up. A day's difference didn't matter. "Alright. Thank you."

Teresa gently patted Emmy's hand, her smile serene. "I am perfectly fine. You do not need to keep me company. Knowing you woke up safe and sound, and that you and your husband are doing well, that is all the peace of mind I need."

Just then, Andrew emerged from the kitchen carrying a steaming bowl of sweet dumplings. He wore an apron over his clothes. Despite the scholarly air his glasses gave him, he practically radiated the aura of a perfect family man.

"Awake?" he greeted Emmy with a warm smile, then set the bowl down in front of Teresa. His tone was natural and deeply familiar. "With me around, your mother is doing wonderfully. You do not need to worry. I just cooked these. Eat them while they are hot."

Teresa looked at the bowl of dumplings, then lifted her gaze to Andrew, her eyes shimmering with unmistakable affection. Last night, haunted by the lingering terror of her abduction, she had fallen into a terrible nightmare the moment she closed her eyes. Andrew had stayed right by her side, patiently soothing her and telling her funny stories from their college days to keep the darkness at bay. Even then, Teresa thought about a few other things that had happened last night, and the tips of her ears burned red.

Catching sight of her mother's flushed cheeks and the undeniable, magnetic glances passing between the two of them, Emmy instantly understood. It seemed she and James weren't the only ones who had enjoyed a passionate evening.

Overjoyed for her mother, Emmy took Teresa's hand and smiled. "I am so glad you are okay. I think you look absolutely glowing today, Mom. It is like you have shed years off your age overnight. It seems Andrew really does have a magic touch when it comes to taking care of people."
