Emmy's lips curved upward. "You could say I am presenting another's gift. A business partner just forced it upon me."
Laney widened her eyes in sheer disbelief. What kind of business partnership involved casually giving away an emerald bracelet of such staggering clarity? It had to be a masterpiece worth nearly nine figures!
However, she could easily tell that her idol had zero affection for the jewelry. If Emmy had actually liked it, she would never have given it away so readily. Dropping her hesitation, Laney nodded. "Alright, I will accept it. I am going to take this abroad, find a premier auction house, and recoup my funds big time!"
Emmy's smile turned a degree more genuine. "Then let us arrange a proper meeting another day."
Laney nodded vigorously. "Yes! Another day!" Emmy watched Laney drive off before finally turning back and climbing into the SUV.
From there, the vehicle headed toward Cloudrest Peak. However, it did not drive directly up to the mid-mountain castle, stopping instead in front of the base apartments at the foot of the peak. James would never take his mother into the castle. That was an entirely private sanctuary reserved solely for him and his immediate family. However, Cloudrest Peak was heavily fortified by his armed forces. Its security level was unmatched, guaranteeing no one would dare cause trouble there. Shelly was still trapped in a state of extreme delirium and terror, her gaze unfocused whenever she tried to look at anyone. She desperately needed this quiet, secure environment to calm down and recover. After entrusting his mother to the base's medical staff, James took Emmy back to the castle.
The following morning marked the day Sylvia was being discharged from the hospital. Emmy woke up early, preparing to make a trip over. James had pressing business to handle and could not accompany her, so she took Nina along instead.
After picking out a bouquet at a florist, Emmy walked into Sylvia's hospital room. Abriella and Krystina had already arrived. The two were chatting and laughing while helping Sylvia pack her daily necessities. Hearing footsteps, Sylvia looked up. Spotting Emmy at the door, she was instantly filled with a mix of joyous surprise and shock. She hurried over, accepting the flowers with both hands. "Ms. Lincoln! Why did you come personally? It is just a simple discharge. You really did not need to go to all this trouble!"
