Hearing this, Emmy let out a long breath of relief. As long as her children didn't have to leave her side, she could accept anything. Truthfully, even if Jared hadn't sent an early education team, she had already been planning to find private tutors for the two little ones. Joey and Dolly were only two years and four months old, but under the long-term guidance of their nannies, they had already absorbed an astonishing amount of knowledge. They were frighteningly smart.
Sometimes, Emmy herself felt a sense of powerlessness. She felt that no matter how much she knew, she couldn't teach them much more that was truly useful. The two toddlers were at a stage where they were intensely curious about the world. They genuinely needed an exceptional, professional team of educators to help them structure their understanding and establish the right worldview and perspective. As their mother, all she could do was lift them up and stay by their side, providing them with the simplest, purest maternal love.
Late into the night, the autumn wind at Cloudrest Peak carried a biting chill, rustling the leaves outside the window. The nursery next to the master bedroom finally grew quiet. Emmy gently closed the door, resting a hand on her aching lower back as she slowly walked back to her room.
The moment she pushed the door open, James, having just finished his work in the study, crossed the room in a few long strides. He grasped her arm with one hand and naturally supported her lower back with the other, carefully guiding her toward the bed. His deep voice was laced with heartache. "Joey and Dolly already know how to fall asleep on their own. You don't need to go coax them anymore. You're heavily pregnant, don't exhaust yourself."
Yielding to his gentle guidance, Emmy slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. She looked up at the man who always made her feel incredibly safe and let out a soft sigh, her eyes shimmering with a tender, watery light. "I was already absent from their lives for far too long. Watching them grow bigger day by day, knowing they will slowly stop needing me, I simply cannot bear to give up this little bit of time that belongs solely to us. Besides, I love coaxing them to sleep." A beautiful curve formed on her lips, revealing the shallow dimples on her cheeks. "Just like my mother used to do for me when I was little. I know they love listening to my stories too. Hearing their mother's voice definitely helps them sleep more soundly."
James sighed helplessly. He crouched down in front of her, taking hold of her slightly swollen calves, and skillfully massaged the pressure points. The two of them chatted casually.
