Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1760

A few days passed. Sylvia was busy reviewing financial reports in her office when her desk phone suddenly rang. It was an internal call from her assistant, Sophia.

Sophia sounded a bit perplexed. "Ms. Moore, a call just came through to my desk. The person on the line insisted they must speak with you directly."

Sylvia paused, finding it odd as well. Who would go out of their way to call her assistant instead of just dialing her cell phone? Pressing the button to connect, she lifted the receiver to her ear. "Hello, this is Sylvia Moore."

A haughty, aristocratic woman's voice immediately drifted through the speaker. "Sylvia. It is me."

Sylvia's grip on the receiver tightened. It was Steve's mother, Ella. She did not offer her usual polite greeting and chose to remain completely silent.

Ella did not seem to mind the cold reception and simply continued speaking. "I heard you and Steve are back together. Is that true?"

Sylvia offered a flat murmur of confirmation.

But she never could have imagined that this unshakable resolve would be shattered so soon.
