The assistant’s smile was all business, but her voice was cold enough to make Emmy pause.
“Ms. Summer, it’s best not to ask about things that don’t concern you.”
“All you need to do is wait in the lounge for Mr. Nelson.”
Right now, Emmy was sitting a little stiffly on the couch in Mr. Nelson’s office. He was buried in paperwork across the room, his broad shoulders and trim waist perfectly outlined by a tailored suit. The only sound was the scratch of his pen moving quickly across the page.
“Give me a few minutes,” he said, not even glancing up.
Emmy straightened up right away. “No rush, Mr. Nelson. Please, finish what you need to do.”
She still couldn’t figure out what he wanted from her. Why call her in here alone and leave his wife and all those socialites outside? She just hoped Isabel wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
Then again, Isabel was a sweetheart, and Emmy was married too. There was no way she’d misunderstand, right?
Before she could spiral any further, Mr. Nelson finished with his last document and clicked his pen shut. He stood up and walked over, his strides long and confident.
“I want real feedback on the game. Don’t sugarcoat it just to be nice. Can you do that?” His gaze was sharp, steady, and a little intimidating.
Emmy sprang to her feet and nodded. “Absolutely. I promise.”
After a brief pause, she couldn’t help but add, “But if I say something you don’t like… I hope you won’t take it personally.”
His eyes locked on hers, deep and impossible to read. For a second, it looked like the edge of his mouth twitched into a smile.
“I’m not so easy to offend.”
Emmy watched him turn and head toward the door, her head tilting in confusion. He seemed totally different from the cold, distant man she’d seen outside.
Still, she was quietly relieved.
At the door, he glanced back, his tone suddenly casual but commanding.
Please put on your VR headset to begin creating your personalized storyline.
Emmy picked up the headset. Nelson Corporation’s VRAI technology had always been the game’s biggest selling point. The AI neural link was so advanced it felt almost unreal. It could pick up even the tiniest brainwaves, turning memories, daydreams, and even the secrets you tried to hide into vivid scenes and characters in the game.
That was what made Letter from the Other Side legendary—and almost its downfall. The tech couldn’t tell the difference between what you really wanted and those stray thoughts you barely admitted to yourself.
Back then, players’ deepest secrets got exposed in the game’s data, leading to scandals and lawsuits everywhere.
Emmy could only hope they’d fixed that disaster.
She slid on the VR headset, took a deep breath, and pictured the story she wanted—then let her thoughts wander, just to test it.
The first thing that popped into her mind was James.
A few seconds later, she yanked off the headset, her heart racing.

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
