When James reached for the paper bag, he stood up all of a sudden.
The comforter slipped down, tracing the sharp lines of his body.
Emmy’s breath hitched. She hadn’t been ready for this. The sight in front of her was more intense—and a lot less expected—than anything she’d seen before. Her heart pounded as she spun around, face burning.
Behind her, James’s voice came, low and teasing.
“It’s not like you haven’t seen it before. You’ve touched it, too. What are you so shy about?”
Emmy’s cheeks, already flushed, went hot enough to fry an egg.
Thank goodness no one else was here.
She gritted her teeth and shot back over her shoulder, “Just shut up! You’re the station chief, don’t you have any shame?”
James laughed, the sound rich and full of mischief.
“What’s there to hide? You’re my wife. I can say whatever I want.”
Suddenly, he made a surprised noise, sounding almost delighted.
“Wait, did you buy me new boxers?”
Emmy took a deep breath, trying to get her voice under control.
“I threw away those old, torn ones. If they’re falling apart, stop forcing yourself to wear them. If you need something, I’ll get it for you.”
For a second, the room went quiet.
Then James let out a deep laugh that filled the space, warm and happy.
“Got it, babe.”
She didn’t answer.
James stretched, sounding lazy and just a little smug.
“They fit pretty well, you know. Want to turn around and check?”
“No way!” Emmy’s face was on fire. She turned to leave.
“Hurry up and get dressed! I’m going back now!”
But before she could escape, he grabbed her wrist, spinning her around and pulling her right into his arms.
James looked down at her, smiling, eyes full of mischief.
Every one of them wore a matching, goofy grin.
“Oh my god, watching James in love is honestly better than falling in love myself!”
“For real! Did you see how red Emmy’s face got? She’s adorable!”
“I’ve been on this squad five years and I’ve never seen James smile like that. It’s almost too much.”
Will stroked his chin, faking a suspicious look.
“Wait, do you guys think James got his clothes wet on purpose, just so Emmy would have to bring him new ones?”
Someone argued right away.
“No way! James isn’t that childish. It had to be an accident!”
In the corner, a middle-aged firefighter who’d been quiet this whole time finally spoke up.
“Listen, when people fall in love, their brains work half as well. James is just a guy, he can have childish moments too.”
He gave everyone a slow look and added with a knowing smile,
“Don’t underestimate the power of love, boys.”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
