Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 770

Emmy acted like she hadn’t heard a thing. She just looked at Isabel, her lips barely curled into a polite, distant smile.

“Thank you for the offer, Ms. Summer, but I’m not planning to join any team right now.”

Isabel nodded, gentle as always, and didn’t press further.

Suddenly, the crowd erupted with excitement. Someone let out a squeal, unable to hold it in.

“Oh my god, I got accepted! I actually made it!”

“Me too! My score’s even higher than I thought!”

The happiness swept through the room, infecting everyone in the corner. Some were lighting up with joy, others froze with shock or disappointment as they checked their results.

Before Emmy could even open the website, her phone lit up with a call from Dr. Pepper. She picked it up and headed out to the empty hallway.

The moment she answered, Dr. Pepper’s booming, excited voice came through.

“Hey, kiddo! Have you seen your results yet?”

“Not yet. I’m still at the seminar, about to check.”

“Haha, you did amazing this time! I graded your paper myself. I already spoke to the department, you’re coming straight to us! No extra interview, no waiting until September. Come to Capital College next month!”

Emmy smiled. “Alright. Thank you, professor.”

“No need to thank me. You earned it!”

After a few more words, Emmy hung up.

When she turned around, she saw Isabel had come out at some point and was standing there, watching her.

“Looks like you got good news,” Isabel said with a smile, walking closer.

Emmy just nodded. “Yeah.”

“For you, getting into grad school was never the hard part.” Isabel’s eyes dropped to Emmy’s pregnant belly, her tone shifting. “But joining a top research team… that won’t be easy.”

She sounded so sincere, like she was truly thinking of Emmy’s future. “There aren’t many advisors willing to take on a grad student who’s pregnant, or about to have a baby. No team, no research project. Graduating could become a real problem. Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider my offer?”

Emmy looked at that perfect mask of kindness and suddenly smiled.

If Isabel wanted to keep acting, she’d play along.

“I’m actually planning to set up my own team.”

“So, thanks for your offer, Isabel, but I’m going to pass.”

She had no interest in dragging this out. The seminar was almost over anyway.

By the time Emmy got back to Moonlight Bay, the sky was almost dark.

She went straight to her study and started coding.

Later that night, Teresa came home.

She was carrying a thick notebook, which she handed to Emmy.

“Emmy, look. I put together everything I learned from the Deep Blue team.”

Emmy flipped it open and saw her mother’s neat handwriting, full of the latest tech notes and personal insights.

Teresa sat across from her, eyes sparkling.

“It really is true. You have to be around amazing people to keep growing. I learned so much these past weeks, things I never even knew existed.”

She looked at Emmy, her voice turning serious.

“Emmy, I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to apply for grad school this year too.”

“Everyone at Deep Blue has impressive degrees from top universities. They’ve all been so supportive, but I don’t want to just coast by and rely on their help.”

“I want to keep learning and improving myself.”
