Shelly stared at her reflection for a long time, barely recognizing the tear-streaked, messy woman in the mirror. Hatred twisted inside her, growing wild and thick from the darkest corners of her heart.
Emmy. This was all because of Emmy.
She drew in a shaky breath, forcing herself to let go of the panic and weakness that had clouded her eyes. Then she grabbed her phone and dialed a number she knew by heart.
The call connected almost instantly.
Shelly didn’t hesitate. Her voice came out raw and sharp. “Mrs. Sparrow, is there a way to just… get rid of Emmy for me?”
There was a pause, then Claudia’s soft laugh drifted through the phone, edged with surprise. “Madam, you’ve made up your mind so quickly? But what about those twins she’s carrying?”
The moment Claudia said “twins,” Shelly’s hatred flared even hotter.
Twins she’d once dreamed of having herself. Twins she’d never been able to bring into the world. Now Emmy was carrying them instead. Emmy, using that pregnancy to keep James, her son, hanging on, and manipulating her husband, Jared, at the same time. Both men she cared about most had been pulled over to Emmy’s side.
If Emmy actually gave birth to those twins, Shelly knew her place in the Nelson family would only get worse.
But those babies… they were Nelsons. Her blood. Her own grandson and granddaughter.
Shelly’s breath came faster, each inhale sharp. “Is there any way she can die, but the babies… the babies stay safe for me?”
Claudia’s quiet laugh deepened.
“So you really can’t stand her, can you?”
“Honestly, it’s not that hard to arrange.”
“As long as you do me one more small favor.”
…
He kept his tone icy. “Go on.”
Claudia spelled out her plan, every detail carefully laid out. When she finished, she summed it up. “If everything works out, you can take Emmy somewhere new. Somewhere you two can live the lives you want, away from all of this.”
Dean listened, then let out a dry laugh.
“That’s your brilliant plan? You just want me out of the picture.”
“You got it all wrong.”
“Emmy and I will be together again. And we’re not running away from the place we were born.”
He ended the call.
Claudia listened to the silence on the other end, her eyes narrowing. But she didn’t seem bothered. A sly smile tugged at her lips as she murmured, “Looks like he still doesn’t know that James is Mr. Nelson. I’ll have to make sure he finds out.”

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
