Abriella grinned, teasing, “I’ve got good news and bad news. Which one do you want first?”
“Good news,” Emmy replied.
“I found the real Claudia.”
Emmy arched a brow. “And the bad?”
“She’s dead.”
“Dead?” Emmy’s face tightened.
“Yeah. She’s been gone a long time.”
Emmy’s mind spun back. “You remember when Cooper got convicted? The anonymous tip that nailed him—it said he’d tortured and killed a ten-year-old girl in his village when he was younger.”
A chill ran through Emmy. “Wait… you mean that girl was…”
Abriella nodded, her expression heavy. “Exactly.”
“This time, when I went back to the village, Steve actually did something right and sent two private investigators with me. We finally figured out the whole story.”
Abriella’s eyes flashed with disgust, like just talking about it left a bad taste.
“Claudia’s real name wasn’t even Claudia. They called her the wild girl.”
“The wild girl, Cooper, and the real Claudia all grew up in that village. The wild girl was born in a cave after her mother, who wasn’t right in the head, got assaulted by some stranger. Later, a farm family in the village took her in because she was starving.”
“But she was trouble from the start. Lying, scheming—she never said a true word. No one liked her. By five, she was on her own, wandering from house to house just to eat.”
“The real Claudia was the total opposite. She was kind. Always looking out for others. More than once, she gave up her own food to save the wild girl from starving. But it was like saving a snake that bites you in the end.”
Abriella’s voice shook with anger.
Emmy let out a long breath and sank onto the sofa. There was so much to take in, she needed a second just to process it all.
Abriella sat down beside her and gently patted her back, her voice heavy with sympathy.
“Some people just can’t catch a break, no matter how good they are.”
“We found the real Claudia’s parents. They told us she was always thoughtful and kind. There were so many trafficked kids in the village, and Claudia would share her food with them, comfort them when they got beaten.”
“After that storm, when she ran off with Ben, they never saw her again. They always thought their daughter had left with Ben, never knowing… she died trying to make it home.”
“We even found her remains. Down the slope just outside the village. But all we found were a few ribs. The investigators think wild dogs probably scattered the rest…”
“It’s just heartbreaking.”
“We helped her parents get a DNA test to make sure it was really her, and then we gave them her ashes.”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
