If Emmy’s ten percent stake was the anchor that kept him steady, then the document Dean handed over was the real game changer. With this in his hand, he could flatten Brian without breaking a sweat. Maybe even James would have to think twice about going up against him.
Dean had actually given up the entire continental market, just for Emmy. The numbers on that paper were insane, almost unreal, but there it was, all signed and sealed like it was no big deal.
Tyler closed the folder slowly, his eyes lingering on Dean, thoughts swirling behind them. Then he smiled.
“Mr. Sparrow, you really are something,” he said. “I doubt even James could match what you’ve done for her.”
He gave Dean a look that said he meant more than his words. “I’ve always believed that people who are meant for each other will end up together, no matter what.”
Dean’s face didn’t show anything, as if giving up an empire was like tossing out an old shirt. He stood and straightened his sleeves.
“Let’s hope this partnership lasts,” he said, then turned and walked out of the office.
…
Monday morning.
Emmy woke up to her right eyelid twitching nonstop. It was one of those days when everything felt off, and she just didn’t want to go to the Nelson Corporation shareholders’ meeting.
But Tyler’s people were already waiting outside the old house. A black stretch Lincoln was parked at the curb, and ten bodyguards in black suits stood by the car. The whole setup looked intimidating.
Emmy grabbed Lorraine’s hand and whispered, “Lorraine, you have to stick with me today, no matter what.”
Lorraine nodded hard. “Don’t worry, ma’am. I won’t leave your side.”
Before heading out, Emmy clutched a little charm in her hand for luck. As soon as she got in the car, that uneasy feeling only got worse.
She pulled out her phone and opened her chat with James.
[Heading to the Nelson Corporation shareholders’ meeting today. Tyler sent a whole team to protect me, so you don’t have to worry.]
Micah’s face changed instantly. “Stop the car!” he shouted.
The driver ignored him, pushing the car even faster.
Micah didn’t waste any more time. He reached out and hit the electronic handbrake on the center console.
“What are you doing!” the driver yelled, panic and anger in his voice as he tried to grab Micah’s hand and yanked the steering wheel.
The car screeched, tires shrieking as it swerved hard to the side.
Emmy was thrown against the seat, the sudden force knocking the air out of her. Then, out of nowhere, she felt a warm gush below her she couldn’t control.
A sharp pain stabbed through her belly and she let out a low, pained sound.
Lorraine saw the wet stain spreading across Emmy’s dress and immediately cried out, “Ma’am, your water just broke! You’re going into labor!”

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
