Emmy flinched instinctively, turning her head just as Dean leaned in. His lips landed on her cheek instead. The warmth of his touch sent a ripple of goosebumps across her skin. Out of nowhere, a wave of disgust surged up from her stomach, so strong that it wiped out any trace of reason.
“What are you doing?”
She shoved Dean away, hard, then scrubbed at her cheek with the back of her hand. The words burst out of her before she could stop them, and for a second, she just stared, shocked at herself.
Dean’s smile disappeared. Hurt settled in his eyes, sharp and obvious. “I just wanted to kiss you.” His voice was barely above a whisper. “We haven’t kissed in a long time, have we?”
He tried to move closer, but Emmy raised her hand, palm out. The message was clear. Stay back.
“I don’t want to kiss you.” Her voice was cold, flat, with nothing soft in it.
Dean seemed to think she was still holding his past mistakes against him. The hurt in his eyes only deepened, but he stepped back anyway.
“Alright,” he said quietly. “Whenever you’re ready, just tell me.”
He lifted the phone he’d taken from her. “I’m keeping this. Please don’t try to get another one. I’m doing this for you, for us.”
He reached out, almost on autopilot, and patted her hair. “Be good,” he said softly, then turned and left the room.
As soon as he was gone, Emmy locked the door. She sat on the bed, feeling like every bit of energy had drained out of her. She just stared into space, still shaken.
That rush of revulsion when Dean tried to kiss her—it was so raw, so real, that it scared her. She knew, deep down, her body wasn’t lying. This was more than anger. It was a rejection that came from somewhere deep inside, something her soul just couldn’t fake.
It felt like… she didn’t love him anymore. Just like that.
…
“Understood, sir.”
…
The next morning, the sunlight was just as bright as ever. After breakfast, Emmy’s private doctor showed up right on schedule. It had become routine.
She stretched out on the treatment bed while the doctor’s practiced hands pressed gently on her abdomen. The feeling was strange, almost unfamiliar.
“Doctor,” she blurted out, “why does the skin on my stomach feel so loose all of a sudden?”
She turned her head to look at the blonde, blue-eyed woman beside her.
“And these lines… what are they from?”

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
