The priest’s kind eyes settled on the angry young man in front of him. He let out a soft sigh, his voice gentle and worn with age.
“My child, I can feel the pain inside you,” he said. “It’s the suffering of wanting someone you can’t have, a fire that never goes out.”
Dean nodded, desperate. “Yes, exactly! I’m in pain. I’m losing my mind.”
The priest reached out and patted his shoulder. “But, my child, have you ever felt her pain? Do you really know what she wants? Is it a life of luxury behind golden bars, or is it the freedom to fly wherever she wants?”
He looked Dean in the eyes. “Loving a flower doesn’t mean you pick it and force it into your favorite vase. Real love means nurturing it, giving it sunshine and rain, letting it grow wild and free in its own soil. Have you done that?”
Dean froze, his mind spinning.
Nurture her? Let her grow however she wants? No way. That wasn’t what he wanted at all. If he let her go, she’d end up in someone else’s garden, admired by someone else.
Anger surged through him. Dean shoved the priest’s hand away. “I don’t want to hear any more of this,” he snapped. “Just tell me how to get her back. Now. Right now.”
The priest looked at him with nothing but regret, sighing again. “If you never try to understand her, if you only see her as something to satisfy your own desires, she’ll never come back. In fact, you’ll only push her further away.”
Dean let out a harsh, mocking laugh. “So this is what the great priest has to say? Useless.” He thought the old man was just talking nonsense. Without a backward glance, he threw the silver cross in his hand to the ground and stormed out.
The priest watched him leave, shook his head, and picked up the cross. Under his breath, he murmured, “If you insist on this path, you’ll only lose what you love even faster. Even God can’t save a soul that refuses to change.”
Dean left the church and headed straight for his yacht, returning to his private island. As soon as he stepped off the boat, his overseas assistant, Pierre, rushed over, panic written all over his face.
“Sir! Bad news! Something terrible just happened!”
…
Meanwhile, James’s phone buzzed with a new message.
Boss, it’s done. The government has officially reclaimed both of Dean’s islands, citing national security.
Dean thought he was safe, hiding behind fake names. He thought no one could ever touch his private property. Too bad for him, he ran into James.
James had noticed those two islands the moment he went searching for Emmy. And this was just the beginning. He wouldn’t just drive Dean out of Fiji. He would make sure Dean’s assets all over the world fell apart, one after another.
Dean had dared to lock Emmy up like a caged canary, breaking her wings. Now, James would make sure Dean knew exactly what it felt like to lose everything and be shut out by the world.

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
