John’s voice suddenly cut off. He stared at Emmy, his eyes wide like she’d just told him she was from another planet.
“You don’t get it? This is just basic neuroscience logic.”
Emmy bit her lip, a little embarrassed, but she nodded anyway. “Honestly, I really don’t.”
John sucked in a breath. “Wow. Ms. Lincoln, you’re not even from this field, and yet you managed to build such a sophisticated system? That’s like someone who’s never studied architecture just… building a skyscraper out of nothing. Your talent is actually kind of scary.”
Emmy felt her cheeks flush from the compliment. For a second, she wondered if her past self had just been cheating somehow.
“Well...” Emmy hesitated, a little sheepish. “I might have learned about it before. But I had an accident not too long ago, and I lost some of my memories. Turns out, I forgot most of my technical knowledge too. So when you start using those official terms, it takes me a second to catch up.”
Understanding washed over John’s face. “No wonder. I guess the universe really is fair. It gives you an incredible brain but takes something in return.” He grinned and pulled out his phone. “Want to exchange contact info? I’ll send you some basic materials and my research notes. If you go over them, you’ll pick things up again in no time.”
Emmy’s eyes lit up. This was exactly what she needed. “Thank you so much, John.”
They swapped numbers. John tucked his phone away, his expression turning a bit more serious.
“Now that we’re contacts, as someone in the field, can I give you a few suggestions about Sync?”
He smiled suddenly, his eyes sincere. “Ms. Lincoln, if you really want to dive into neural pathways, our lab is starting a new project to map them out. I could recommend you for my team.”
Emmy froze for a second. A research group at Harvard? That was basically the dream.
Before she could even react, John went on. “Or, I could introduce you to my mentor, Dr. Hopkins. He’s a legend around here, basically the authority on combining AI and neuroscience.”
John leaned in, his voice full of conviction. “With your talent, Ms. Lincoln, if you really get the hang of neuroscience, you’ll do things nobody’s ever done before.”

What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....
CHAPTER 1220 HAS NO WORDING JUST THE CHAPTER NUMBER...
Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
