Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 46

Kai's POV

I kicked the door to the VIP suite open and carried Valerie inside.

I walked straight to the king-sized bed in the center of the room and gently laid her down. My movements were slow and careful. I, who had broken men and markets without a second thought, was terrified of jostling her.

Her head rested on the pillow. She looked impossibly small and pale against the stark white sheets. Her breathing was shallow but steady.

She was alive. That was all that mattered.

I pulled a thin blanket up over her, my knuckles brushing against her cheek. Her skin was cold. Far too cold.

My two Alpha Guards took up positions on either side of the closed door. They knew the protocol. No one was getting in.

A soft, hesitant knock came at the door.

"Alpha?" It was Dr. Albright. "The nurses are here with the IV and the diagnostic equipment you requested."

I didn't turn around, my eyes still locked on Valerie's face. "Let them in," I said, my voice low. "But you give them this order. They will be silent. They will be efficient. Send in only the head nurse. And if she touches Valerie with anything less than the utmost care, I will personally rip her hands off."

I heard Albright swallow hard on the other side of the door. "Understood, Alpha."

The door opened, and a single, older nurse entered, pushing a cart of medical equipment. Her face was pale, and she refused to make eye contact with me. Smart woman. She went about her work with quiet, practiced movements, attaching sensors to Valerie's temples and setting up an IV drip.

"What is that?" I demanded, pointing to the bag of clear fluid.

"Just a saline solution with electrolytes, Alpha," the nurse whispered, her hands trembling slightly. "To help with dehydration. Her system is… depleted."

"Depleted," I repeated. The word was pathetic. She hadn't been "depleted." She had poured her own life force into my grandfather to save him from a poison I had stupidly allowed into his room.

This was my fault.

"Hope is not a strategy," I snarled. My hand shot out and grabbed the front of his lab coat, slamming him back against the wall. The impact made a dull thud.

"I'm paying you for solutions, not prayers," I said, my face inches from his. "So you are going to find one. I want every specialist, every healer, every ancient text you can find. You will bring them here, and you will not stop until you figure out how to wake her up."

"But Alpha, this is beyond medicine!" he choked out, his eyes wide with terror.

"Then go beyond it," I growled, releasing him with a shove that sent him stumbling back. "Now get out. And don't come back into this room unless you have something useful to say."

He scrambled out of the room, leaving me alone with the silence. I looked at Valerie, so still and quiet on the bed.

A cold, hard fury settled in my chest. Someone was going to pay for this.

I pulled out my phone and sent a single, encrypted text to my Beta.

"Jax. Get to the Silver Crown compound. Now. I want eyes on Isabella."
